Friday Reads #1 ~ Pipe Dreams(Brooklyn Bruisers) by Sarina Bowen

Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share the first sentence (or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.
This week’s book:

34218879Goodreads Summary:

A great goalie always makes the save, even when he’s taken a shot to the heart…

Mike Beacon is a champion at guarding the net, but off the ice, he’s not so lucky. A widower and a single father, he’s never gotten over Lauren Williams, the ex who gave him the best year of his life. When Lauren reappears in the Bruisers' office during the play-offs, Beacon sees his chance to make things right.

Lauren hates traveling with the team she used to manage and with the man who broke her heart. There’s still undeniable sexual tension running between her and Mike, but she won’t go there again. She’s focused on her plans for the future—she doesn’t need a man to make her dreams of motherhood come true.

Lauren plays her best defensive game, but she’s no match for the dark-eyed goalie. When the field of play moves to Florida, things heat up on the beach.

Only one of Mike’s fans doesn’t approve—his teenage daughter. But a true competitor knows not to waste the perfect shot at love.

BOOK BEGINNINGS:

Brooklyn, April 2016 The first time Lauren Williams ever drank a shot of whiskey in front of her boss was the night the Brooklyn Bruisers clinched a play-offs berth for the first time since Nate Kattenberger bought the team.

FRIDAY 56:

Mercifully, the last four were played at the other end of the ice. Somehow the fight had lit a fire under his guys. They skated like demons, which led to an ugly goal by Trevi in front of the net with less than thirty seconds left in the period.

MY THOUGHTS:

I just finished reading this book before writing this post and it was a nice read. Not my favourite in the series but still it was good. Sarina Bowen is a nice author and you must have guessed by now that this series is about Ice Hockey players and we follow some of their romance lives with great anticipation filled games.

  1. I don't often read books that feature athletes, but this one does sound tempting. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

    1. This series was tempting, that's how I ended up reading this series but I also love sports themed books so that was a plus. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Hi Priyanka,

I haven't read many sports themed books, as they simply don't appeal to me. However, if you enjoy ice skating then I can recommend author Jennifer Comeaux. I have read a couple of her books and thoroughly enjoyed them!

    Happy Reading :)
