~BLURB~

Flora Phillips has an excuse for every disaster in her life; she was abandoned as a new-born on a doorstep one cold autumn night, wrapped in nothing but a towel. Her philosophy is simple: if your mother doesn’t want you – who will?

Now a thirty-year-old, without a boyfriend, a career or home she figures she might as well tackle the biggest question of them all – who is she? So, whilst everyone else enjoys their Christmas Eve traditions, Flora escapes the masses and drives to the village of Pooley to seek a specific doorstep. Her doorstep.

But in Pooley she finds more than her life story. She finds friends, laughter, and perhaps even a love to last a lifetime. Because once you know where you come from, it’s so much easier to know where you’re going.

A story of redemption and love, romance and Christmas dreams-come-true, the perfect novel to snuggle up with this festive season.

Review:

Rating - 4/5

I was hit by a tiny reading slump this week and that's why I am late reviewing this, but I'm so glad I read it because it got me out of my slump. This is my first book by this author and I see myself reading her books in the future.

Flora is our heroine, she, like it says in the blurb was abandoned on a doorstep. The story starts on a Christmas Eve night where Flora abandons her Christmas party on a whim and is on a path to go find answers, find her birth mother. Lately, she was feeling abandoned because her boyfriend cheated on her and she didn't feel like doing the whole thing celebrating the Christmas Eve drunk in a pub with strangers and all. So she heads to the small village called Pooley. And her first encounter in the town with people is not so comfortable as she almost goes to jail for accidentally assaulting a police officer. And she discovers she is already popular around in this part of the town. It was all fun to read.

Joel is our hero. He is the police officer Flora accidentally "assaults". He too just went through a breakup recently. He seems to be so curious about Flora. I liked Annie and Mike who ran the pub and also own the inn where Flora is staying at. Annie was my favourite character. She helps Flora solve her mystery. We get a lot of POVs so that was great to see everyone's perspective as everyone has some sort of secret.

Ms. Green created a nice world. It was amazing to read about a village full of people being so close. Everyone has their own secrets and it was mesmerising to see them all unfold. I wanted all the gossip and making me sit on the edge of my seat at times. I liked the ending too. I liked reading about the England version of a small town, I hadn't read any book set in a small village of England before. I felt like I was in the village and part of their community so the writing was exquisite. It was a great mystery romance novel. I wholeheartedly enjoyed it.

~BLURB~

Libby has been drifting through life for too long and, now in her early 30's, it's time to grow up. She decides to have one last summer of fun before buckling down, so heads off to beautiful Positano in Italy.
There, despite all her good intentions, she can't help but fall a little in love with the very handsome, but rather naughty, Luca and, as the summer draws to a close, Libby has some big decisions to make.
Should she head back home and face up to her responsibilities? Is Luca really the right man to start a family with, or has the perfect man been right in front of her eyes all this time?
And, when it comes to affairs of the heart, is it really better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

Review:

Rating - 3.5/5

Libby is our main protagonist. She is in her thirties and wants to go on a proper vacation before settling down and becoming serious. She chooses to go to Italy. She goes to Positano and lives and works there. She meets this gorgeous male Luca, whom I didn't like from the beginning only despite his charming self.

This story is more about what characters are going through and how they are dealing with various aspects of their lives and problems. I like the way everyone's life was described and the raw nature of it. I liked Libby and her journey. I also liked Angus a lot. He has such a big heart!

The story is a bit complicated after Libby's vacation. I wanted to like it but I couldn't keep up and there were things that made me happy to read and some did not. I kept on reading to find out more about the company which some of the characters start together. I liked Libby because she didn't give up and she did what she wanted in the end. And liked Angus for supporting her.

You see a lot of other characters through Libby too. Like her sister Helen. I liked reading about her part too. Angus was a surprise and I really liked that. The ending was a bit too sudden. But nevertheless, I liked it and the epilogue too.

~BLURB~

Are there written rules on how to find a soulmate? Or is it better to trust the hands of fate? A hilarious romance perfect for the fans of Debbie Johnson and Holly Martin.

After enduring a string of dead-end relationships, Zoe Mathison has made a decision – to find a man who truly appreciates her. But this is turning out to be more complicated than she expected. Fed up of being surrounded by insufferably happy couples in love, her mission to find the perfect man starts to become an obsession.

Eric Morgan is pushed to his limits. Hopelessly in love with Zoe, who sees him as nothing more than a best friend to lean on, he can’t bear seeing his hopes of romance crushed every time the sculpted pecs of a younger man comes along. But when a new girl appears on the scene, he is determined to prove that he can push his infatuation aside and move on. But is it as easy as it seems?

In the romantic and bustling city of New York, will Zoe and Eric’s hilarious misadventures attract Cupid's arrow?

Review:

Rating - 3/5

Crazy Stupid Love is the second installment in Blame it on New York series. This is a story about Zoe and Eric.

Zoe Mathison has it all, but she never really had friends as she never clicked with the girls and guys just thought of as someone to flirt with. I didn't click with Zoe from the get go only but there is a certain sweetness to her. I guess I was irritated with her because she just couldn't see or didn't want to accept what was in front of her. Eric's love.

Eric is our hero. He is sweet and nerdy guy who is irreversibly in love with Zoe. Throughout the book he struggling with his emotions between love for her, feeling cowardly to express his love and frustration when she went out or flirted with other guys. What I didn't get is why he waited for 10 years to confess his love, when they were always together. Zoe never got a clue about his love in 10 whole years!!

I really liked their setting of the gift shop where all the characters work. I liked the friendship between the four characters, Zoe, Clover, Eric and Liberty. We also get to see Clover and Cade, I really liked them. I believe there's is the first book.  I also liked Clover as a person. If you're looking for a quick contemporary romance set in New York, you can check this series out.
