Review ~ Second Chance Summer (Cedar Ridge #1)

Goodreads Summary:

RESCUE ME

Cedar Ridge, Colorado, is famous for crisp mountain air, clear blue skies, and pine-scented breezes. And it's the last place Lily Danville wants to be. But she needs a job, and there's an opening at the hottest resort in her hometown. What has her concerned is the other hot property in Cedar Ridge: Aidan Kincaid-firefighter, rescue worker, and heartbreaker. She never could resist that devastating smile . . .

The Kincaid brothers are as rough and rugged as the Rocky Mountains they call home. Aidan has always done things his own way, by his own rules. And never has he regretted anything more than letting Lily walk out of his life ten years ago. If anyone has ever been in need of rescuing, she has. What she needs more than anything are long hikes, slow dances, and sizzling kisses. But that can only happen if he can get her to give Cedar Ridge-and this bad boy-a second chance . . .

My Review :

Second Chance Summer is the first book of Jill Shalvis's new series, Cedar Ridge. As I keep saying it that I love Jill Shalvis, there was no surprise when I picked this book as soon as it was released. And it was indeed a great read!

Jill Shalvis has a knack of creating these perfect, adorable towns. Like Lucky Harbor, I fell in love with this town Cedar Ridge based in Colorado.

Lily Danville has returned to Cedar Ridge after a decade. When some tragic occur accidents in her life Lily can't cope up with those and she gives up living in the town and goes to San Diego. When she runs into trouble there and is out of job, after ten years she is forced to return to Cedar Ridge as her friend Jonathan offers her a job.

Aidan Kincaid is a firefighter and volunteers for the local Search-and-Rescue team. He lives with his family in his family's Cedar Ridge Resort. The resort is struggling so he and his brothers are doing everything to save the family resort. He is very protective of his family. Aidan always had a thing for Lily but when she left town abruptly he was hurt, so when she returns to town, he tries to keep his distance from her and not get too emotionally involved but he can't stop himself from wanting to help and protect Lily.

Lily always had a crush on Aidan but due to some misunderstandings, she wants to keep distance but it doesn't happen that way of course. Her encounters with Aidan are pretty funny too. But they have great chemistry and so they can't stay away from each other. After some communication everything works out in the end.

I loved the story. Aidan and Lily were great, I quite liked Aidan's family as well. It was a great start to the series. I am looking forward to the next book. If you are looking for a Jill Shalvis book to read, Second Chance Summer is for you.

Some of my favourite quotes:

*
“He remembered kissing her… falling for her.

Then how she’d left the mountain without looking back, forgetting about him with shocking, heartbreaking ease.

Now she was back. And she’d kissed him like maybe she hadn’t forgotten him after all...”

*
“You’re not a job to me, Lily. Not even close. You’re more. And I think I’m more to you too. I think it’s not that you don’t feel anything, it’s that you feel too much. I scare you.”

*
“There were some men who just knew how to kiss, the kind of kiss that could send a woman reeling. The kind of kiss that could take away problems and awareness and … and everything. The kind of kiss that could shatter her into a trillion little pieces. The kind of kiss that somehow both calmed her body and soul even as it wound her up for more. Aidan was that kind of kisser.”

My Rating - 5 stars!

7. In Death series, by J. D. Robb:
I recently started reading this series and LOVE Roarke! But there are about 41 books released and its an ongoing series, I only have read two yet. So it will take time for me to catch up with this series. But nonetheless, I enjoy reading this series.

10. Lord of the Underworld:
I used to love this author cause of this series but recent books in this series were disappointing so even though, the new books in this series aren't my favourites, it still remains in my top ten cause of all the awesome old books in this series.

Bonus two favourite series are as follows:

11. Killer Instincts:
I recently started reading this series and have caught up with it and LOVED it! Elle Kennedy is an amazing writer with perfect mix of thriller and romance series.

11. Perfect Chemistry:
I loved this Young Adult trilogy and I love to reread it all the time. So this one had to make the list.
Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1)

Even with the two bonus books and a little cheating, I have so many books left from my favourites list, I feel guilty not putting them in this post. But can't help it now. So,  this was my top ten list. What about you? Let me know.

Genre:  Contemporary Romance, Adult,

Goodreads Summary-

Kit Devigny could have loved rock guitarist Noah St. John. Their friendship burned with the promise of intense passion and searing tenderness…until the night Noah deliberately shattered her heart.

Noah knows he destroyed something precious the night he chose to betray Kit, but he’d rather she hate him than learn his darkest secret. All he has left is his music. It’s his saving grace, but it doesn’t silence the voices that keep him up at night. Chasing oblivion through endless one-night-stands, he earns a few hours’ sleep and his bad boy reputation.

When a media error sees Noah and Kit dubbed the new “it” couple, Kit discovers her chance at the role of a lifetime hinges on riding the media wave. Wanting—needing—to give Kit this, even if he can’t give her everything, Noah agrees to play the adoring boyfriend. Only the illusion is suddenly too real, too painful, too beautiful…and it may be too late for the redemption of Noah St. John.

I'm waiting because...

I was waiting for Kit and Noah's book since they were mentioned in the first book. Now I loved the second book even more than the first one, but I wanted Noah's book like yesterday.I just can't wait to read their story!

TOP TEN TUESDAY #3 ~ TOP TEN SERIES I HAVEN'T FINISHED YET

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted and created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, they post a new theme and everyone is invited to join in!

This week's topic is top ten Series that I haven't finished yet!

Hmm. There are more series that I haven't finished yet, than I originally thought before doing this post. Here goes my list:

1. Anna and the French Kiss series, by Stephanie Perkins:
I love this series read first two books, but the author took very long to publish the last book, so I seem to have been taking my own time getting around this book (cause I'm lazy!).

9627755

2. Shatter Me series, Tahereh Mafi:
I loved Shatter Me! I read two books and a novella in this series but for some reason I just didn't read Ignite Me and a novella. I NEED to finish reading this series!
13188676

3. Vampire Academy series, by Richelle Mead:
I remember starting this series and leaving it after reading first four books cause some new book had released about which I was very excited and after reading that I was gonna get back to this series but I just went on with other books. Now I want to not only finish this series but start with its spin off, Bloodlines.

8181181           9797582

4. Unbound series, by Rachel Vincent:
I read the first two books liked it but again I stopped at book number three cause of a new release and just didn't get back to it. But I will finish reading this book in the near future.

13451906

5. Bride Quartet series, by Nora Roberts:
Took a break after reading two books and I've yet to get back to it. But I loved this series so I plan to finish it soon.

6781956   7074000

6. Lux series, by Jennifer L. Armentrout:
I love this series no doubt. But I waited after Origin was released for the final book to release and I have yet to read both the books. I will read them as soon as possible.

13644052    13644055

7. In Death series, by J. D. Robb:
I recently started reading this series and LOVE Roarke! But there are about 41 books released and its an ongoing series, I only have read two yet. So it will take time for me to catch up with this series. I'll post the pictures of two books, that I've read instead of to read like I am doing in this post (cause there are too many left to read).

479309   12735369

8. Queen of Babble series, by Meg Cabot:
I loved her Size 12 is Not Fat books but and loved the first book as well but after reading the synopsis of remaining books and the reviews, I just didn't feel like reading it. So I quit this series when at this point only. Instead of reading ahead and starting to hate the series/author.

199782  2068676

9. Drake Chronicles series, by Alyxandra Harvey:
I think this was one of my first vampire books. I remember, I loved reading this series. But for some reason only 6 books were released with some novellas and I read first 5 books. So couldn't imagine the end to this series would be so soon. I felt it could be an abrupt ending to my favourite series so I just stopped reading it. But its just one book so maybe in the future I'll get back to it.

16172256

10. Intertwined series, by Gena Showalter:
I used to love this author cause of this series and LOTU series. But she just went downhill for some reason and stopped writing this series after third book, Twisted. And I am waiting and waiting but she's not writing it cause some problem with the publication house. But I want this series to continue, it was awesome and it was also my first vampire book! So no picture for this one, as there is no cover for the fourth one yet and I doubt it will ever release also..

Well, this was my top ten list. What about you? Let me know!
