THURSDAY MEMES #2

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts - (un)Conventional Bookviews

It is hosted by Unconventional Bookviews . The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not.

So without further ado:

As soon as she sets the plate on the table, I’m on them, my fingertips burning, my tongue smarting. Don’t care. They’re too good. Heaven.
She watches me, her lips slanting as if she’s stuck between a smile and a scowl. She’s got nice lips, I’ll give her that. Cupid lips, I think they’re called. The kind that, while small, are shaped like a kiss. “Want butter with that?” she asks. “Is that a real question?” I manage between bites. She gets up, grabs a jar that I find out is filled with honey butter—damn, that’s good—and gets us each a cup of coffee.

The way he describes the biscuits, my mouth just watered after reading this.

That's What HE Said

This is a meme hosted by Chapter Break Book Blog .  Every Thursday join us by posting a favorite line from your book boyfriend to his heroine. The quote you choose does not have to be romantic – it can be anything spoken by a book boyfriend.

“Love breaks your heart, fucks you up—perfect, all-consuming chaos. I didn’t know what to do with that. It felt safer to walk.” He wraps me up in his arms, his eyes on mine. “But it’s also this. Peace, and warmth, and so fucking beautiful, you’ll risk anything to keep it.”

~ Killian said to Libby from Idol (VIP #1) by Kristen Callihan.

My Review :

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book by this author and after reading this book, I see myself reading more books by her in the future.

Isabel Garcia's ex dead husband turns out to be drug dealer, and that's how she comes in contact with Lt. Linc Hellar. And there are sparks between them but Isabel is not ready to admit it. Because she was already once burned and now there is her 5 year old daughter in the equation too. So anxious Isabel doesn't want to take risk with Linc being in a risky line of duty and losing him.

Linc is really a hard working guy and a very sweet guy. He always turns up to help Isabel whether it is with her daughter or to help her in her farm in the cold weather. He was really understanding and sweet with not only just Isabel but even with her daughter.

This is the story of Isabel and how she struggles with her relationship with Linc and how everything ties up in the end. It was a sweet little story with great side characters. Makes you want to read their story as well in the series.

My Rating - 3.5 stars!

Waiting on Wednesday #22 ~ Under the Lights (The Field Party, #2) by Abbi Glines

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Under the Lights (The Field Party, #1)
(Click on the title to know more about it on goodreads.)
 Author:  Abbi Glines
Genre:  Young Adult, New Adult, Contemporary Romance, Sports
Publication Date:  August 23rd, 2016

     26135139

Goodreads Summary-

In the follow-up to Abbi Glines’s #1 New York Times bestseller Until Friday Night—which bestselling author Kami Garcia called “tender, honest, and achingly real”—three teens from a small southern town are stuck in a dramatic love triangle.

Willa can’t erase the bad decisions of her past that led her down the path she’s on now. But she can fight for forgiveness from her family. And she can protect herself by refusing to let anyone else get close to her.

High school quarterback and town golden boy Brady used to be the best of friends with Willa—she even had a crush on him when they were kids. But that’s all changed now: her life choices have made her a different person from the girl he used to know.

Gunner used to be friends with Willa and Brady, too. He too is larger than life and a high school football star—not to mention that his family basically owns the town of Lawton. He loves his life, and doesn’t care about anyone except himself. But Willa is the exception—and he understands the girl she’s become in a way no one else can.

As secrets come to light and hearts are broken, these former childhood friends must face the truth about growing up and falling in love…even if it means losing each other forever.

I'm waiting because...

I like the first book in this series enough to go to the second book also I liked Brady more than the hero in the first book and it sounded interesting when we get a tease of Willa in it. Also the synopsis is sounding good.

Click on the titles to checkout the series on goodreads.

Allegiance of Honor is the latest book in the Psy-Changeling series on 14th of June. It is an intelligent series, really. It is a series with Psy (a new race NS created), Changelings and Humans. And trust me, when you meet one character, you can't help it but want a book for that character! And the author is so generous with providing free short scenes in the newsletters and everything. That satisfies you. Its a Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Paranormal Romance combined and is my favourite paranormal series ever.
Second, Lucky Harbor series is a contemporary romance series with great humour, great stories and writing. Not only the main characters but even the side characters are awesome and nice. If you're looking for a great light read, Lucky Harbor is the series for you!

So here are my two favourite series, do check them out soon!

THURSDAY MEMES #1

Yes that's right! There are so many memes which are held on Thursday and here I was not posting on Thursdays. So I am going to be participating in two exciting memes!

Here Hudson is lured by his brothers in his family's resort cafeteria to discuss something he doesn't want to. His reaction to looking at the plate full of yummy breakfast is funny!

A very bad feeling came up from his gut and he strode inside. Gray, Penny, Kenna, Aidan, and Aidan’s fiancée Lily sat at a table having a late breakfast.
“Told you he’d come if there was food involved,” Gray said. “He thinks with his stomach. That’s because he’s single.”
There was an empty seat waiting for Hud. A plate had been loaded with his favorites: bacon, eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast, and… a big, fat blueberry muffin, the top of it dusted with sugar.
His mouth watered. “Who died?”
Penny laughed. “No one, you big lug. Sit down and enjoy.”
It was hot as hell inside. Making a mental note to have someone check the thermostat and make sure they weren’t bleeding money with a heater cranked up too high, he dropped his jacket, hat, and gloves. He unzipped his sweatshirt and sat. Then he looked at Penny, aka the sweet tyrant. “What?” she asked innocently. Shit. He knew it. The plate had been a misdirect and he’d fallen for it.

This is a quote said by Hudson to Bailey,

“I couldn’t be without you,” he said. “I couldn’t breathe here without you, I couldn’t think without you. I couldn’t… be without you. Without you, I wasn’t me.”

Title: Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling, #15)
 Author:  Nalini Singh

     26089799  Allegiance of Honour (Psy-Changeling #15)

Goodreads Summary-

The “unparalleled romantic adventure”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as a new dawn begins for the Psy-Changeling world...

The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: Old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: A child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable—and save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

I'm waiting because...

Its a Psy-Changeling novel. LOVE the author, LOVE, Love this series, and  it says its an ensemble of all the old characters. Both the covers are so intriguing and I love them both so had put up both of them.

Review ~ My Kind of Wonderful (Cedar Ridge, #2) by Jill Shalvis

Goodreads Summary:

UNEXPECTED AND UNDENIABLE...

Bailey Moore has an agenda: skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she's determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn't realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn't want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn't the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she's not planning to stick around.

As head of ski patrol at his family's resort, Hud thinks he's seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he's been missing far too long. Now he'll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.

My Review :

There is no surprise now what I am going to say, like in every review of this author's book, I am going start off by saying, I freaking LOVE this author. Her writing, her personality, which you come to know, if you stalk *ahem* follow her on her social media and her blog, are awesome.  I can't get enough of this author. Thankfully she writes continuously even though she is behind the deadline everytime. You get books by her in every few month. So Thank you Jill Shalvis for awesome books and hopefully you continue on for a Long, long time. Now that my fangirling moment is over and if you are still reading this review, I will get on with it.

My Kind of Wonderful is the second instalment in Cedar Ridge trilogy. This book is a 5+ stars book for me. Never have I ever given that rating. Its just the characters spoke to me and the writing was amazing, I can't help it but give it a 5+ rating. But mostly the extra rating is for Bailey, our heroine.

Bailey Moore is a cancer surviving person, who went through all kinds of hell since her teenage years. Now that Bailey is on the road to the recovery and be cancer free, she wants to live life to the fullest. She wants to go skiing, explore castles and all kinds of stuff which are there in her agenda.
She inspired me a lot. She decides that all this time she was dying, she wants to live now. And she does. Her personality is so good. She loves with an open heart. In fact she does everything with an open heart. The way she takes on with her life after cancer, and she doesn't let that control her life. She appears thin and frail but is so strong willed and is fighting to live. That is why, she is my favourite heroine and the extra stars are for her.

Meet Hudson Kincaid, he is a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. But he is also suffering because his twin is gone and he blames himself. He is a brooding guy who doesn't remember when was the last time he smiled and he does that immediately when he sees Bailey. Between being a cop and a skii patrol, and looking after the resort their father left them with a ton of debt, he is a very busy guy. But he makes time for his mother who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and to keep tabs on his twin.

Hudson has never met anybody who is as delicate yet has the strongest will and is a firecracker like Bailey. He instantly realizes that Bailey touches something deep within him. And is ready to explore. He is also one of favourite heroes, because the way he was with Bailey was just amazing. He doesn't treat her like others do, some fragile human being. They immediately fall for each other but are too stubborn to admit it. And then there are some misunderstandings and snow storm between them but in the end they come out stronger than ever.

“The thought of you leaving and staying away made me want to drop to my knees,” he said. “How’s that for someone who doesn’t care? It’s been three days, twelve hours, and six minutes without you.” She blinked. “You kept track of the minutes?” “No, I made that part up,” he said. “I was trying to load the evidence in my favor.”

The rest of the characters from the first book are there. They are hilarious. Every one of them. Aidan, Gray, Kenna, Lily and Penny. All of them have a piece to offer ready at their hands. I can't get enough of their commentary. I have to put them in this review. So here you go:

“I got held up by the storm but went after you as soon as I could. You’d left this huge Bailey-size hole in my heart, but the storm—it was the only thing that could’ve stopped me.” “Oh, good save,” Gray muttered. “Makes up for him being so slow on the uptake.” Penny smacked Gray lightly on the chest. “Shh. And it wouldn’t hurt you to be taking notes here, Mr. Not Romantic. You might actually learn something.”
*
“In our offices,” he said, “everything that has to be done each week goes up on a scheduling wall, which inevitably starts a fight over who’s going to do what, so we started a new thing this year. We throw darts for the chores.
*
“Go big or go home. That was the Kincaid way.”

The reason why Jill Shalvis's books are all kinds of wonderful is because she makes them realistic with a touch of drama. Not everyone is out for your blood or is a villian. Not always there's a third person in the story. She makes characters nice and realistic, with a hint of dramatic flare to them and that makes you like them.

Some of my favourite Quotes:

“Oh boy. “Aren’t you afraid that might express personal interest?”
His smile was a little naughty. “I’ve had my tongue down your throat. I’m pretty sure I’ve already expressed personal interest.”
*
“I took one look at you,” Hud said to Bailey, “and control went flying out the window. You tore down the brick wall around my heart one smile at a time.”
*
“Don't worry about whether you can do it, Bailey Bean. Just pretend you can. Pretend enough and it becomes real.”
*
“That’s just life. There’s good and there’s bad. My happiness and safety won’t come from having a man. It comes from me.”
*
“When it comes to you?
Hell no…
With you I’m so far out of my league, I can’t even see the league.”
*
“She stared at him and nodded. "Yes, you're right."
He cocked his head as if he couldn't hear her. "What was that?"
"You're right." She gave him a little push and he had to laugh.
"I heard you the first time," he admitted. "I just like the way that sentence sounds on your tongue.”
*

My Rating - 5 + stars!
