Review: About That Night (FBI/US Attorney, #3) by Julie James

Goodreads Summary:

He's Playing Games

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face-to-face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she's stunned. More troubling to the beautiful assistant U.S. attorney is that she's still wildly attracted to him.

But She's Making The Rules

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn't thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case—but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can't say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn't mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won't give up on something he wants—and what he wants is the one woman he's never forgotten.

My Review:

We were introduced to Kyle Rhodes in 'A Lot like love'. He is Jordon Rhodes's twin brother, who is a computer genius and also happens to be an ex-con cause he shuts down twitter for two days. So he is infamously known as the "Twitter Terrorist" And Rylann is a new Assistant U.S. Attorney, just moved to Chicago.

So Rylann and Kyle meet in a bar nine years ago, which was really cute and I loved this part. They have undeniable chemistry, but Kyle stood up for their first date as his mother died in an accident and now they meet in a courthouse for his case and they still have the same undeniable chemistry between them.

Kyle is the key witness of Rylann's case. But he refuses to answer any questions that is until Rylann walk in asks him to and he reluctantly agrees to testify.
And from there their relationship grows. There were, of course obstacles in their way, as he is the ex-con and she is the Assistant U.S. Attorney and everything but they work it out in the end. We get to meet previous characters and I loved them too!

Some of my favourite quotes :

“I saw you laughing with your friends, and your smile sucked me right in.”

“Because nine years ago, I walked up to the most beautiful girl in the bar, and tonight she's still the only person I want to talk to.”

“You came along and changed everything. I don’t want to be some guy you’re fooling around with anymore, Rylann. I want to be with you all the way."

“It may have taken nine years, and a whole lot of wrong turns along the way, but their story felt complete at last.
Because, finally, she was his.”

“I love you, Rylann." He cupped her face, peering down into her eyes. "And now I finally have a good answer to the one question everyone always asks me--why I hacked into Twitter. I didn't know it at the time... but I did it to find you again."
She leaned into him, curling her fingers around his shirt. "That may be the best justification I've ever heard for committing a crime." She looked up at him, her eyes shining. "And I love you, too, you know."

Review: A Lot like Love (FBI/US Attorney, #2) by Julie James

Goodreads Summary :

The FBI wants her cooperation...

As the daughter of a billionaire and the owner of the city's top wine store, Jordan Rhodes is invited to the most exclusive parties in Chicago. But there's only one party the FBI wants to crash: the charity fundraiser of a famous restaurateur, who also happens to launder money for the mob. In exchange for her brother's release from prison, Jordan is going to be there—with a date supplied by the Bureau.

Agent McCall just wants her...

As the top undercover agent in Chicago, Nick McCall has one rule: never get personal. This "date" with Jordan Rhodes is merely an assignment—one they're both determined to pull off even if they can't be together for five minutes before the sarcasm and sparks begin to fly. But when Nick's investigation is compromised, he and Jordan have no choice but to pretend they're a couple, and what starts out as a simple assignment begins to feel a lot like something more.

The cover is of an audiobook, but I love this one the best.

My Review :

Nick McCall is a FBI agent. Jordan Rhodes is a daughter of a billionaire and a twin sister of Kyle, who is locked up in prison for quite an interesting thing he did. Jordan was a down to earth girl, who owns a successful wine store in Chicago. I liked her.

FBI Agent Nick McCall is assisting a junior agent Huxley in an undercover investigation against Xander Eckhart. And Jordan is the key to get into his office during the Valentine's party at Xander's. Jordan agrees to cooperate in exchange to have her brother transferred to home detention.
But as luck would have it, instead of Huxley to be her fake date at this party it has to be Nick cause Huxley falls sick. At the party, some problems occur and that is why, they're stuck together playing boyfriend/girlfriend for more time than expected and Nick sees that Jordan is not just a rich girl and there is more to her and starts falling for her. He is very sweet to her after that and I really liked that.

I also liked the banter between them.
“It was time to break out the don't-fuck-with-me face.”

“Boyfriend huh? I didn't realize we had taken things to that level."
"Oh, I'm sorry--this is my first undercover operation," Jordan said. "I'm a little unclear about the rules. Are we seeing other people in this fake relationship?”

“It's a truth universally acknowledged that an FBI special agent in possession of great skill and talent is likely to engage in trash talk every now and then.”

We get to a little bit of Jack Pallas and Cameron(I love them) and we meet the infamous Kyle as   well.
It was a sweet and funny story. There were too many hilarious conversations in between to not enjoy it. Even though Jack and Cameron's book is my favourite, I liked this book too.

My Favourite Quotes :

“He gripped her shoulders determinedly. 'I should’ve told you this earlier, Jordan. Now that I’ve got my chance, you’re going to hear it whether you like it or not. You came into my life and messed the whole thing up and now I’m screwed. Because I’m in love with you. As in balls-out, head-over-heels, watching-Dancing-with-the-Stars-on-Monday-nights, wine-and-bubble-bath kind of love. Hell, I think I’d even wear a scarf indoors for you.”

“Don't take this next undercover assignment. Stay with me instead."
Nick's eyes pierced hers, refusing to let her off that easily. "Tell me why."
"Because... I love you." She exhaled. No take-backs. The words were out there forever.
And it felt great.”

Jordan couldn’t keep the smile off her face. “Yeah, I like this guy. He rescued me from a crazed man with a gun, he makes me laugh, and he calls his mother Ma. I’d say he’s a keeper.”

“You've met Nick?"
"Yep, we've met, all right. He was kind enough to inform me that I have absolutely no say in whether you two date."
"Well, you don't."
"You know, you all could at least pretend that my opinion makes a difference.”

“I’d like to know more about this undercover agent who posed as my daughter’s date. The ubiquitous Tall, Dark, and Smoldering.'
Nick put on his best meet-the-parent smile. 'I generally prefer to go by Nick.”

Told you it was funny!

Review: Something About You (FBI/US Attorney #1) by Julie James

Goodreads Summary:

Fate has thrown two sworn enemies...

Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends with a death. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and for nearly ruining his career.

Into each other's arms...

Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it's no joke; the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension.

The cover is of an audiobook, but I love this one the best.

My Review :

Something About You is the second book I read of Julie James. First was, Just the Sexiest Man Alive. I liked that book but I Loved her writing style cause of this book.

Jack Pallas is the FBI Agent and Cameron Lynde was the Assistant US Attorney. They worked on a same case three years ago but the things went wrong and Jack insulted her on national television and was transferred to Nebraska. Now after all this time, Cameron is staying at a hotel for one night and there happens to occur a murder and catches a glance at the murderer through her eye hole from her room. And she becomes the key witness of the case. And the Jack Pallas has this case. So they meet after three years and since they had parted ways unhappily, the banter between Jack and Cameron when Jack interviews her is funny.

Cameron is placed under witness protection program. Jack and Cameron have to work together and they can't resist the attraction between them. After one incident with Cameron at her place, Jack takes full responsibility to protect her and from there they solve their misunderstandings.

Together they were perfect! I couldn't keep the book down. It was a nice and fun book. I loved reading about Jack and Cameron. LOVED Them! I actually read this book in 2013, but still reread it sometimes. Also I loved all the other characters Wilkins, Collin, both Police officers, everyone were damn funny! It's one of my favourites.

Some of my favourite quotes :

“If you also thinks it means I wake up every morning wondering what I did to deserve having you back in my life, well, you'd be right about that too.”

“My God, Jack - with a look like that, you two should just get a room. And try not to pick the one with a dead body next to it this time.”

“More like a chocolate molten lava cake. A dessert so sinful, so luscious, so filled with inner heat it made a girl want to lick each and every crumb right off the plate. That was Jack Pallas.”

“I invited a few people to help celebrate your birthday," Cameron said sheepishly. She threw up her hands. "Surprise."
"We sort of come with the package," Collin explained. "Think of it as a collective gift from all of us to you: five bona fide annoying and overly intrusive new best friends."
"It's the gift that keeps on giving," Wilkins said.
Jack grinned. "I'm touched. Really. And since it appears I'm going to be moving in, let me be the first to say that all of you are always welcome at my and Cameron's house. Subject to a minimum of forty-eight hours prior notification.”

Review: Love Thy Neighbour by Belle Aurora

17730406

Asher 'Ghost' Collins and Natalie Kovac shared a passionate night together. One neither of them can forget.

After reading Friend-zoned I was excited for this book and I like a book with a Badass guy and a troublemaker girl, well it was just as amazing as I thought!

You meet Asher(Ghost) and Natalie in the first book and they *ahem* have a moment together. But she is scared of her feelings and she pushes him away for months but now, Nat is Ghost's neighbour as the title suggests. Ghost is shocked to see Nat as his neighbour.
They have a Love/hate relationship. But soon they overcome their differences and tension and become friends. But soon they can't avoid the tension between them and being friends is not enough, so they decide to be friend with benefits. Nat falls in love with him after that and she says it out loud. Scared Ghost runs away but comes back and he makes it up.

I liked the heroine, which I wasn't sure I would after meeting her in book one. But she is really a sweet person under that tough exterior of hers.

Some favourite quotes :

“Tina leans forward and asks quietly, 'Do you? You know? Love her?'
Squeezing Nat’s knee again, I reply, 'She’s teachin’ me how.”

“This girl. She's my girl. She's not perfect. Neither am I. But she's perfect for me, and I'll do anything I can to keep her.”

Nat's face softens, her lips tilt at the corner and she speaks full of awe, "Wow."
Still chuckling, I ask, "What?"
She shifts from one foot to the other, looks to the ground and says softly, "That's the first time I've heard you laugh." She nervously plays with a ring on her finger. "That's one of the nicest sounds I've ever heard, Ghost. You should do it more often.”

“Sometimes you have to walk away from what you want in order to find what you deserve.”

Review: Friend-Zoned (Friend-Zoned, #1) by Belle Aurora

17948485

Nikolai Leokov never thought he'd fall in love with the only girl he's ever befriended.

Valentina Tomic has issues with commitment after the ultimate betrayal.

Nik is the owner of The White Rabbit club and Tina is the owner of Safira Clothing Store in front of The White Rabbit club. Tina sees Nik outside the club everyday smoking and never sees him smile. That is why, she sends him some candy of wax lips.
And here, Nik thinks that it's a ploy by some female. So he calls her to meet him at the club. But he realizes that she is genuinely nice and sweet. And soon finds himself getting friend-zoned by her!

“So we can be friends, right?”
Wait, what?
I stare at her, a frown forming at my mouth.
Did I..? Did I just get Friend-zoned?”

Tina was a really nice and strong character. In spite of all the things she's been through(they were bad, but I don't wanna mention them cause it is a big spoiler), she was all cheery and full of life! Nik also has some issues but is sweet and super nice to Tina.
They are friends at first but then their feelings start to grow and they both deny their feelings for each other but then they can't ignore it.

Together they go through a lot of problems, but come out stronger. I liked them together. This book has the balance between hilarious and emotional situations.
“Fuck off, BeyoncĂ©. There’s no such thing as angels. No one wears a halo. And if they do it’s only to disguise the pointed horns that sit atop their heads.”

“Some days are just hard and you want to go asleep and wake up a week from now knowing the problem is gone. Everyone feels like that once in a while.
Life can be overwhelming.”

“He chuckles and says, "Finally. More than friends." I put on the most serious face I can muster and offer, "yeah, more than friends...Best friends forever!”

Just when I thought that they'll now get their HEA and there comes a problem. And the story becomes even more interesting and you don't feel like keeping it down until you finish it.

“You're it. The one. The start. The finish. You are how my story ends.”

If you're looking for a light read, Friend-zoned is perfect for it!

Review: Willing Captive by Belle Aurora

Goodreads Summary:

(Author note: This is NOT a dark romance.)

Her boring life is suddenly turned on its head when she’s rudely kidnapped from her bedroom.
Or so she thinks.

Day after day, Nox watches Lily and her strange ways. She’s unlike any woman he’s ever met.
Getting close to the girl is purely for her own protection…right?

Lily never imagined she’d make her first real friends in captivity.
What lengths would she go through to keep them?

My Review:

Oh I loved this book a lot!

I read Friend-zoned series and immediately liked Belle Aurora's writing style. That is why, when I came to know that this book is coming out, I was looking forward to read this one. And it was an amazing, fun and beautiful read!

Well it starts of with a 22 year old girl Delilah “Lily” Flynn with an overprotective father being abducted by Nox a damn hot ex-military guy and his team! Nox is dark and Lily is the light, so they complement each other.

The plot and the bookcover makes the story look like its gonna be a dark story, but its not. It's actually very funny! Nox and Lily have love/hate relationship in the beginning, but Lily with her wits wins his heart. I really liked Lily. She wasn't irritating or a sheep who surrenders easily to whatever brooding hero says. Nope, she was unique. Who used to cry at everything before, you see her growing up in the book and standing up for herself. Also she loves reading, so by default I liked her already.

"Reading is my escape. It makes my brain work, which gives me a short reprieve from my isolated life"

Well gotta agree on that!!

The last 20% part was so emotional! It was a perfect ending to their story. Loved it, no doubt! And I loved Rock and Boo too. Their part in the end was emotional and sweet too! I just wished if Rock and Boo had gotten a book I really loved them!!

And here are some fun and sweet dialogues below from the book which I loved :

“Books... I can’t live without books. To me, a book is better than any movie. All I need is a good book, my imagination, and I am set free. I’m in literature heaven.” ~Lily

"Who are you?~Lily
The person who just saved your life baby"~Nox

“Standing face to face with a still pissed Nox, I find myself getting pissed, too. Nox just has that effect on me. I swear this guy must’ve been conceived through back door action. There’s no way being that much of an asshole is natural.”

"You haven't been kidnapped, Delilah." Eyes wide, I lift my face to look into his and ask, "Who are you?" Hottie's lip twitches. "The person who just saved your life, baby." ~Nox

"I hated the life I was living. And you changed me. All for the better. And I thank God for the day I met you." ~Lily

"Never had something so beautiful so close before."~Nox

"Can't help who you fall in love with, princess." ~Nox

"I never realized how much I hate my life. Not until he showed me beautiful." ~Lily

"You remember what you said this morning? About it being totally stupid to fall in love with me?"
At that, my eyes open. He adds quietly, "Then you should start calling me a fuckin' moron." ~Nox

"Been hurting a long time. You can't see this type of hurt, though. Broken hearts don't mend easily. And you're not hurting me right now, baby. But even if you were, it would hurt so sweet." ~Nox

“Owe ye everything, son. Ye need or want anything, ye just ask."
Nox earns a point in my dad's book when he utters, "I'm quite partial to your daughter, actually. I was kinda hoping I could keep her.” ~Nox

Aww it's hard not to love Nox!!
