Summer TBR Wipeout 2016 ~ Update #2

1

I am participating in Summer TBR Wipeout 2016, hosted by The Candid Cover. If you want to check it out, click on the link.

I have ten books in my list for this readathon, out of which I have now finished reading 7 books, I read three books after the post Update #1, they are as follows :

28937797

1. Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh : I just adore this author so much, everything of hers end up being my favourite so enjoyed reading this beauty a lot. It was a great ending to this seires. It was 5/5 stars read for me.
26242354

2. Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas : I am on the roll reading Lisa Kleypas's Historical Romance books. Love this one more. Winterborne and Helen were amazing! Again a 5/5 stars read for me!

114162

3. Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas : I changed my TBR for this readathon a little cause Abbi Glines's Under Friday Lights doesn't come out until August 29. So I decided since I am on roll with the Historical genre, I'll go ahead with this series called Wallflowers. This is one of the earlier works, it is great but, I didn't like the heroine that much and I liked The Ravenels series better. But I am hoping for more better books in this series because I am told that it gets better ahead.

I am currently reading Wallflowers's second book, It Happened One Autumn, and I am loving it. Its true what others said that this series becomes better as you read ahead.

To check out my whole TBR list, go to my introductory post.

WWW Wednesday #1

IMG_1384-0

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave your link to the post in the comment section of their blog.

The Three W's are :

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you'll read next?

Currently Reading :
I am reading a Historical Romance book, Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas from Wallflowers series. This is a series about girls who are wallflowers in London. They are all very sweet and how they plan to end up with husbands. The first book is about Annabelle who standard wise is rich but money is broke and she is looking for a husband and it can be anyone but Simon Hunt because he is a rake. Simon Hunt is a butchers son who becomes rich by investing money and has everything but he is still lonely and for some reason his attention is captured by Annabelle, who despises him a lot.
I am really enjoying this Lisa Kleypas can write amazing Historical Romance!

Recently Finished :
The Ravenels series's two released book, Cold-Hearted Rake and Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas. Reading these two books has gotten me into the historical genre mood and so I am continuing with her books. These two books were fantastic honestly. Devon and Rhys Winterborne both first agitate you but once they set their eyes on the girls, they just transform into such lovable characters! Can't wait for book 3!

Reading Next :
I will be continue on with the Wallflowers series only, because I genuinely can't get enough of Lisa Kleypas's historical books! If you are looking for amazing Historical Romance and stories which show some modern changes in historical books, she is the author you should look for.

This week's post prompt is
What are two of your favourite book to movie adaptations?
I don't always end up liking the book to movie adaptations, movies always fall short to my expectations. But! I LOVED Harry Potter movies and The Hunger Games(First movie). Maybe because I watched the movies first and then read the books, and maybe that's why, those two are my favourite. In Harry Potter's case, I am only just reading all the books, I am on book 3 by the way. And of course I am enjoying books far more than the movies and regret not reading it before. But better late than never.

What about you?

Summer TBR Wipeout 2016 ~ Update #1

1

I am participating in Summer TBR Wipeout 2016, hosted by The Candid Cover. If you want to check it out, click on the link.
I couldn't post this on Sunday because I was out of town with no internet connection. But I thought better late than never. So here is my update:

I have ten books in my list for this readathon, out of which I finished reading 4 books, less than I expected but I have been watching a lot of TV shows and YouTube and going out but I plan to change that for the second half of this readathon. Anyways, these are the following books that I finished reading:

262478731. Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey : It was a great book, it was 3.5 stars for me. I would have given 0.5 more if there was more time for romance between the main characters, it was too insta and they get too serious in mere days. And I wanted more sibling time between the Clarkson. I was a little disappointed by the end but it was all in all a great read because we do get Clarkson siblings through out the books and the estranged siblings seem to come closer.

281327222. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K.Rowling : It was a book filled with awesome things which I was already expecting because I have already watched all the movies countless times but reading it was definitely different. I loved all the characters especially Hagrid!

15881                                                                                                                                                                                                    3. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K.Rowling :  I was again sucked into this world didn't want to stop reading but I have other books on this list and I want to commit to that one and if I have time in the end I will continue on with this series. All the characters are again so good they just make place in your heart and the stories are so well written you are always on the edge okay now what's next even the quidditch games, I was cheering and disappointed when it got cancelled. I wanted more Hagrid though.

24431358                                                                                                        4. Cold Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas :  It was a great read, like, 4.5 stars read for me! This was my first Lisa Kleypas Historical ovel adn I absolutely loved it! When I started oh how I disliked Devon BUT! he changed and took on the responsibilities so quickly and his brother West also becomes a hard working person. And the chemistry between Devon and Kathleen was really good! And between Helen and Winterborne too! I can't wait to start the next book, its Helen and Witerborne's book, yes.

These were the books that I read and following two are my next reads,
1. Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh
2. Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas

This week's post prompt is
What is your favourite character archetype(s)?
Okay after giving this question some thought, I have decided on following types as my favourite character archetypes:
A. Heroines: For heroines, I like when the girl is clever and a badass at the same time like Mercy from Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh or sweet, clever and a badass like Sascha from the same series or if they're sweet and a fighter, like Bailey Moore from My Kind of Wonderful by Jill Shalvis.
B. Heroes : My preferred archetype for heroes is charming, but not jerks and love it when they grovel when mistaken, Jill Shalvis can make that happen! I love most guys from Lucky Harbor series. Also Dean from Supernatural TV show is my favourite character archetype. Or Cam from Wait For You by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Review ~ Nobody But You (Cedar Ridge, #3) by Jill Shalvis

Goodreads Summary:

SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN…

After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.

Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease—and tempt—him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.

25712281

My Review :

Nobody But You is the third instalment of Cedar Ridge series by Jill Shalvis. JS can create really nice and cute little towns with which you will fall in love. Same thing happened with me with this series. I fell in love with all the characters of the Kincaid family members in the first book itself and fell more in the second book. We don't meet Jacob earlier but we come to know of him in the previous books.

Jacob is Hudson's twin brother. And due to some arguments and different views of the world they separate and go different ways. Hudson stays with the family and Jacob ends up in the army. Jacob is now back after years of being away. And he doesn't know how to go back to his family. But on his first day back he meets our heroine who is trying to "park" her boat or moor it. And yes, she doesn't know anything about boats. But due to some circumstances she ends up on a boat.

Sophie Marren is a sweet woman who has been burned by her cheating ex husband. She is trying to get on with her life, which is turning out to be difficult as she gave everything up for her ex and in return she gets nothing. Sophie is very hard working and she never quits.

Jacob and Sophie have a great chemistry. They decide to live in the moment and enjoy each other's company and slowly they fall for each other without realising it and also not knowing what to do with it. Jacob has some trouble accepting his feelings for Sophie because he is scared of losing people due to some heart breaking incidents taking place when he was in the army. Sophie understood all that and didn't give up on Jacob easily and she made him feel better too by arranging some meet up for veterans at the resort in the end. That part was my favourite. Jacob also helps Sophie out a lot that was very sweet. While I liked their story but Hudson and Bailey remain my favourite couple. In fact, I liked Aidan and Lily's story better too.

Jacob has some difficulties going to his family in the beginning but in the end Kincaids make it work. He buys a cabin in the town and starts helping his family out with the resort stuff and he slowly becomes a part of the family. I loved how everybody in the family welcomes him with open arms and accept him without any doubts or resentment. They're all very sweet. I loved meeting all the previous characters.

Some of my favourite Quotes:

Not that she'd run here from the lake. Nope, the only time Sophie did any running was if a bear was chasing her, and that hardly ever happened.
*
“He was a smart enough guy to get that she was the one for him. He was also smart enough to know that he was going to have to work his ass off for it.”
*
“I can't think in your presence."
"Why not?"
"Because looking at you is like..." She tossed up her hands. "It's like walking down the chips and cookie aisle at the grocery store. I can't resist you, and then I'll forget why you're bad for me.”
*
My Rating - 4 stars!
