Review ~ Midnight Captive (Killer Instincts #6) by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Summary:

Former CIA agent Bailey Jones has spent months trying to forget her night of passion with mercenary Sean Reilly. An elite and methodical assassin, she has no room in her life for a reckless, rule-breaking Irishman, and she’s vowed to steer clear of the tempting bad boy who lured her into his bed under false pretenses.

When Sean is implicated in the robbery of a Dublin bank, Bailey knows something isn’t right. So what if she can’t trust him? There’s no way Sean would end up on the wrong side of the law. In fact, he’s stuck in the middle of a dark and dirty conspiracy that could put his twin brother’s life at risk with one wrong move. And Bailey’s life too when she agrees to help.

As the stakes are raised and Bailey finds herself torn between two brothers, the fine line between danger and desire is crossed…and it’ll take more than a killer instinct to survive.

23398610

My Review :

Its a book about Bailey Jones, one of the girls from Noelle's team and Sean Reilly, one of the wonder twins(LOL!)

Sean had joined Jim Morgan's team and then Bailey sees Sean robbing a bank in his home town and is sure that something is not right. She jumps in with her instincts and she is not far from being right.

Sean is stuck. He doesn't care about the IRA politics but they have his twin, Ollie and he has to do what they say. And then Bailey jumps in and so does his friends from Morgan's team. He is not used to so much support and love and he becomes overwhelmed.

From the synopsis itself we can make out that Sean and Bailey have history. And that confuses Sean and he keeps thinking that Bailey loves his twin and there is a bit complication. Bailey doesn't know if  she should trust Sean who is the gang's member now. She has her own trust issues as well and she always resists to ask for help due to her own past. Together with flaws how they take down the gangs is amazing to read.

It is a great novel with the mix of suspense, mystery and romance! And great side story and characters.

My Rating - 4 stars!

Review ~ Midnight Action (Killer Instincts #5) by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Summary:

She’s got a broken heart...
and a fully loaded arsenal....

Ex–army ranger Jim Morgan leads a team of elite mercenaries, but eighteen years ago in Paris, he was part of a black ops unit whose mission was to hunt down a rogue operative. In order to trap the criminal, Jim seduced Noelle, the man’s daughter—a ruthless act that cost him the love of his life and turned her into a mortal enemy. Now he can’t trust her, but he still desires her. He also needs her help....

Older, wiser, and unwilling to play the fool again, Noelle runs a group of highly skilled assassins. And she’s just been offered the hit of the century: Eliminate Jim Morgan. History gives them no reason to trust each other, but with their lives in jeopardy at the hands of a common enemy, the lines between love and hate are soon blurred. Now Noelle and Jim must face the past if they want to have a future—let alone a future together.

My Review :

I have come to expect amazingness from this series so wasn't surprised when this book turned out to be amazing as well. Elle Kennedy did it again! She delivered a book filled with jaw-dropping romantic suspense.

Jim Morgan and Noelle hated each other throughout the series and having two teams of assassins each, they most of the time come to each other for help whenever they're in need of it. Even though it pains to do it. You can see how much they loathe each other through out the series and that is why, I was intrigued for this book the most.

Noelle gets a contract to kill Jim. Now that is like the hit of the century for her but she doesn't want to kill him just under someone's order and Jim's life is in danger. But why? And when Jim and Noelle are forced to spend time together the secrets reveal and the pain with it.

Jim and Noelle had a past obviously and things were done and not discussed. Usually I am frustrated with whole miscommunication/non-communication thing. But here the situation was really messed up and there is this emotional roller coaster. So many things have happened which hadn't come to light and after so many years Jim and Noelle are given second chance and they just can't stay away from each other. Even though they think that they're toxic for one other.

I really liked the story and the reason behind Jim disappearance really turned out to be a major thing and not just some lame excuse which now days is happening a lot in the books that I am reading. Like there is a huge built up behind some situation and the climax turns out to be very unsatisfying one.

So this doesn't happen at all. I quite like the ending. IT was perfect for Jim and Noelle. It was a great read and the I obviously liked side characters. They're all great in every book!

 Some of my favourite quotes/dialogues:

“She was a drug and he was an addict, hooked on her from the second he'd met her.” (Not very healthy but oh well, it is an apt quote for Jim and Noelle.)
*
“I hate phones," he grumbled into her neck. "Seriously, I wanna go back in time and murder Alexander Graham Bell." He sat up with a groan. "Or was it Edison who invented the phone? I can never remember."
She had to laugh. "I'm pretty sure it was Bell.” (LOL! Just some funny dialogue!)

My Rating - 4.5 stars!

Waiting on Wednesday #18 ~ Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1)
 Author:  Susan Dennard
Genre:  Young Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal, Fiction, Magic, Witches
Publication Date:  January 5th, 2016

21414439

Goodreads Summary-

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

I'm waiting because...

It sounds amazing and it is very popular and I have taken liking towards witchery and magic after reading His Fair Assassins.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
