Review ~ Midnight Captive (Killer Instincts #6) by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Summary:

Former CIA agent Bailey Jones has spent months trying to forget her night of passion with mercenary Sean Reilly. An elite and methodical assassin, she has no room in her life for a reckless, rule-breaking Irishman, and she’s vowed to steer clear of the tempting bad boy who lured her into his bed under false pretenses.

When Sean is implicated in the robbery of a Dublin bank, Bailey knows something isn’t right. So what if she can’t trust him? There’s no way Sean would end up on the wrong side of the law. In fact, he’s stuck in the middle of a dark and dirty conspiracy that could put his twin brother’s life at risk with one wrong move. And Bailey’s life too when she agrees to help.

As the stakes are raised and Bailey finds herself torn between two brothers, the fine line between danger and desire is crossed…and it’ll take more than a killer instinct to survive.

23398610

My Review :

Its a book about Bailey Jones, one of the girls from Noelle's team and Sean Reilly, one of the wonder twins(LOL!)

Sean had joined Jim Morgan's team and then Bailey sees Sean robbing a bank in his home town and is sure that something is not right. She jumps in with her instincts and she is not far from being right.

Sean is stuck. He doesn't care about the IRA politics but they have his twin, Ollie and he has to do what they say. And then Bailey jumps in and so does his friends from Morgan's team. He is not used to so much support and love and he becomes overwhelmed.

From the synopsis itself we can make out that Sean and Bailey have history. And that confuses Sean and he keeps thinking that Bailey loves his twin and there is a bit complication. Bailey doesn't know if  she should trust Sean who is the gang's member now. She has her own trust issues as well and she always resists to ask for help due to her own past. Together with flaws how they take down the gangs is amazing to read.

It is a great novel with the mix of suspense, mystery and romance! And great side story and characters.

My Rating - 4 stars!

Review ~ Midnight Action (Killer Instincts #5) by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Summary:

She’s got a broken heart...
and a fully loaded arsenal....

Ex–army ranger Jim Morgan leads a team of elite mercenaries, but eighteen years ago in Paris, he was part of a black ops unit whose mission was to hunt down a rogue operative. In order to trap the criminal, Jim seduced Noelle, the man’s daughter—a ruthless act that cost him the love of his life and turned her into a mortal enemy. Now he can’t trust her, but he still desires her. He also needs her help....

Older, wiser, and unwilling to play the fool again, Noelle runs a group of highly skilled assassins. And she’s just been offered the hit of the century: Eliminate Jim Morgan. History gives them no reason to trust each other, but with their lives in jeopardy at the hands of a common enemy, the lines between love and hate are soon blurred. Now Noelle and Jim must face the past if they want to have a future—let alone a future together.
18141689

My Review :

I have come to expect amazingness from this series so wasn't surprised when this book turned out to be amazing as well. Elle Kennedy did it again! She delivered a book filled with jaw-dropping romantic suspense.

Jim Morgan and Noelle hated each other throughout the series and having two teams of assassins each, they most of the time come to each other for help whenever they're in need of it. Even though it pains to do it. You can see how much they loathe each other through out the series and that is why, I was intrigued for this book the most.

Noelle gets a contract to kill Jim. Now that is like the hit of the century for her but she doesn't want to kill him just under someone's order and Jim's life is in danger. But why? And when Jim and Noelle are forced to spend time together the secrets reveal and the pain with it.

Jim and Noelle had a past obviously and things were done and not discussed. Usually I am frustrated with whole miscommunication/non-communication thing. But here the situation was really messed up and there is this emotional roller coaster. So many things have happened which hadn't come to light and after so many years Jim and Noelle are given second chance and they just can't stay away from each other. Even though they think that they're toxic for one other.

I really liked the story and the reason behind Jim disappearance really turned out to be a major thing and not just some lame excuse which now days is happening a lot in the books that I am reading. Like there is a huge built up behind some situation and the climax turns out to be very unsatisfying one.

So this doesn't happen at all. I quite like the ending. IT was perfect for Jim and Noelle. It was a great read and the I obviously liked side characters. They're all great in every book!

 Some of my favourite quotes/dialogues:

“She was a drug and he was an addict, hooked on her from the second he'd met her.” (Not very healthy but oh well, it is an apt quote for Jim and Noelle.)
*
“I hate phones," he grumbled into her neck. "Seriously, I wanna go back in time and murder Alexander Graham Bell." He sat up with a groan. "Or was it Edison who invented the phone? I can never remember."
She had to laugh. "I'm pretty sure it was Bell.” (LOL! Just some funny dialogue!)

Waiting on Wednesday #18 ~ Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1)
 Author:  Susan Dennard
Genre:  Young Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal, Fiction, Magic, Witches
Publication Date:  January 5th, 2016

21414439

Goodreads Summary-

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

I'm waiting because...

It sounds amazing and it is very popular and I have taken liking towards witchery and magic after reading His Fair Assassins.

Waiting on Wednesday #17 ~ I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: I Wish You Were Mine (Oxford, #2)
 Author:  Lauren Layne
Genre:  Adult, Contemporary Romance, Sports
Publication Date:  February 2nd, 2016

25241400

Goodreads Summary-

Perfect for fans of Alice Clayton and Emma Chase, Lauren Layne’s Oxford series heats up in this story of forbidden desire as a brooding jock hoping for a comeback falls for a woman who’s strictly off-limits.

A year ago, Jackson Burke was married to the love of his life and playing quarterback for the Texas Redhawks. Now he’s retired, courtesy of the car accident that ruined his career—and single, after a nasty scandal torpedoed his marriage. Just as he’s starting to get used to his new life as a health and fitness columnist for Oxford magazine, his unpredictable ex shows up on his doorstep in Manhattan. Jackson should be thrilled. But he can’t stop thinking about the one person who’s always been there for him, the one girl he could never have: her younger sister.

Mollie Carrington can’t say no to Madison. After all, her older sister practically raised her. So when Madison begs for help in winning her ex-husband back, Mollie’s just glad she got over her own crush on Jackson ages ago—or so she thought. Because as Mollie reconnects with Jackson, she quickly forgets all her reasons to stay loyal to her sister. Tempted by Jackson’s mellow drawl and cowboy good looks, Mollie is sick and tired of coming in second place. But she can’t win if she doesn’t play the game.

I'm waiting because...

I really liked Stiletto series more than I expected and the first book in this series, Irresistibly Yours, just turned out to be my super favourite book so I can't wait for the second one in this series. Plus, the last part from the previous book just left me intrigued for the second book. And the synopsis! I haven't read any book with this kind of situation.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

TOP TEN TUESDAY #7 ~ TOP TEN BOOKISH THINGS THAT I AM THANKFUL FOR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted and created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, they post a new theme and everyone is invited to join in!

This week's topic is Top Ten Bookish things that I am Thankful for:

I love books. They're my life. So without further ado here is the list of 10 bookish things that I am thankful for:

1. Let me start off with just the books. I am thankful for all the books in the world. They benefit some, make someone smile or make someone just feel something, so yeah thank you for that!

2. Now I'll talk a little about authors and no doubt first author I am thankful for is Nalini Singh! Thank you for creating Psy-Changeling books and writing/publishing all the short stories and deleted scenes(I love them!)

3. I am thankful to Jill Shalvis for creating Lucky Harbor World! Its my go to happy place. She is really a cool person with an awesome blog and so many amazing books!

4. I am thankful to all the authors that I read books of. There are just so many that I am thankful to. That it's impossible to thank everyone and not forget someone. So, I'll thank each and every single one author just at once. Just in case if you want to check which all authors? They're there in my goodreads list! :P

5. I started blogging and have come to know so many great blogs and people cause of it! Love bookish bloggers! There're so many really great bloggers! They inspire me!

6. My Instagram has totally turned into bookstagram and I am so impressed with it. I not only enjoy uploading bookish photos but also coming to know so many bookstagrammers(its not a word, I know. LOL). They're all really amazing and love so many posts on IG! I am really inspired by them. I don't know what I would upload most of the time if it weren't for books.

7. Thankful to books again. Similar to the first one but this one is personal. I learnt so much from books, my grammar definitely has become better. I have to come so many interesting/cool stuff cause of books! I have grown up so much cause of it. Like with the change of genre in my reading from YA to NA to Adult I change too, I feel. I still go back and read YA but I have started reading Adult genre too and I think that made me a bit mature.

8. I am thankful to books (again!) for making my life really interesting cause I can just jump from one world to another. A book is not just a book but its a whole another world, I love to spend time in.

9. This is a non-bookish one. I am thankful for my Family of course. For supporting even though you think I am making mistakes and letting me be the crazy me and all.

10. Last but not the least, I am thankful for my two best friends. Janhvi, being that calm and  pleasant person. Introducing me to this bookish world and just so thankful that our taste in books match and that is why, this has been so much fun! Helping me out in almost everything! She's kinda my makeup and book guru. And Neharika for being crazy and strong person. She's my partner in crime(Not that I commit some amazing/cool crimes) but embarrassing ones lol.

So,  this was my top ten list. What about you? Let me know.

Review ~ Midnight Pursuits(Killer Instincts #4) by Elle Kennedy

Goodreads Summary:

Her job is to stay hidden.
Too bad he can’t take his eyes off her.

Soldier-for-hire Ethan Hayes is the youngest member of an elite mercenary team. While he may be affectionately nicknamed the rookie, the skills Ethan honed as a Marine make him seriously dangerous. But when a sudden distress call puts him in close quarters with a rival, he finds more than his field skills being put to the test.

Juliet Mason stands out as the master thief in a covert group of assassins and spies. Her latest mission is personal—and it’s gone horribly wrong. Juliet may prefer to work alone, but when the rookie comes to her aid in snowy Eastern Europe, she can’t deny they make a good team. But even up against a powerful enemy, their most challenging task yet may be fighting the passion between them...

18141688

My Review :

It was a great read. I mean, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Killer Instincts is a great series and my favourite one. I love Elle Kennedy's writing no doubt. But I wasn't expecting much from the lead characters. But they surprised me and it in fact turned out to be one of my favourite books in the series.

Ethan is the “rookie” of Morgan's team, cause he is the youngest member of his team. He receives a call meant for Isabel from Juliet and she’s in trouble. Juliet is very injured and sounds like she's in trouble so Ethan drops everything and comes to Juliet’s aid.

Juliet Mason is an ex-master thief, now an assassin for Noelle’s group of assassins. When Juliet gets a call from a hospital that her brother, Henry is shot and in critical condition, she hops immediately on a plane. When she finds out his fiancée was murdered in a professional way, Juliet takes it upon herself to track down the killer and exact her brother's and her vengeance.

Now in the last book, I wasn't the couple's big fan cause of their constant arguments. But in this book, you get to see his another alpha side.
So it start with Ethan helping Juliet get better and then he sticks and insists on helping Juliet out. Juliet, who is used to solitude on her mission is uncomfortable with Ethan joining in, especially when its her personal mission.

And how they work together and other characters come into play is just awesome. The story flows perfectly after that. I liked how age didn't really affect their relationship. Juliet was pretty cool about it once she admits to liking him. It was another great hit in Killer Instincts series!

I like the dialogues in this series, they're all very witty and fun and emotional.
Some of my favourite dialogues from this book:

“Out of curiosity, what do you do on the second date?”
The grin he shot her melted her insides. “I subscribe to baseball rules, of course. First, second, third, and then I screw your brains out.”
*
"Hold on--did you just call me Ethan?"
Her olive cheeks took on a pink hue. "No."
"You said my name. Not kiddo, not rookie. My actual name."
"So what if I did?"
Triumph coursed through his blood. "It means I'm getting to you."
Now she was practically sputtering. "You're not getting to me."
"Ha. I totally am." He flashed a victorious grin. "You like me."
"I do not."
"You absolutely do."
*
Dumbfounded, Ethan stared at the bag before meeting her dark eyes. “You broke into a bakery to steal cookies for me?”
“Don’t you dare read anything into it,” she grumbled, as if sensing his thoughts. “They’re just cookies, for fuck’s sake. Doesn’t mean a thing.”
*
"I mean it, sweetheart. You're not walking away from me. Not until we finish what we've started. And even then, I still won't let you go."
"How very caveman of you."
"Don't care. You're not going anywhere, Jules."
*

My Rating - 4.5 stars!

TOP TEN TUESDAY #6 ~ TOP TEN QUOTES I LOVED FROM BOOKS I READ IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted and created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week, they post a new theme and everyone is invited to join in!

This week's topic is Top Ten Quotes I Loved From Books I Read In The Past Year Or So

I love book quotes. Sometimes even if I end up not liking the story, the quotes make it up for it. Here are some of the quotes I like:

1. “...if you could make a beautiful piece of art from discarded newspapers and old matchbooks, then it meant that everything had potential. And maybe people were like collages-no matter how broken or useless we felt, we were an essential part of the whole. We mattered.”
― Heather Demetrios, I'll Meet You There

2. “It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world.”
― John Green, Paper Towns

3. “Day or night, rain or shine, I’ll be there for you... Just be my friend.”
― Nalini Singh, Rock Redemption

4.  “Selflessness. It should be the basis of every relationship. If a person truly cares about you, they'll get more pleasure from the way they make you feel, rather than the way you make them feel.”
― Colleen Hoover, Confess

5. “Mirrors have an uncanny way of telling the truth.”
― Marissa Meyer, Cinder

6. “Because while she's so pre-occupied reading... I'm so pre-occupied reading her.”
― Jay McLean, More Than Forever

7. “I feel like I've loved you for eternity, and it's not even close to long enough.”
― Jay McLean, More Than Forever

8. “Try to believe that maybe more light shines out of those who have the most cracks.”
― Mia Sheridan, Archer's Voice

9. “I didn’t know enough to dream you, Bree, but somehow you came true anyway. How did that happen?” He rubbed his nose along mine, pausing and then pulling back again. “Who read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted, even when I didn’t?”
― Mia Sheridan, Archer's Voice
**Bonus quote: “I lost my heart to you. And, Bree, in case you're wondering, I don't ever want it back.”
― Mia Sheridan, Archer's Voice

10. “Tomorrow will be better.”
“But what if it’s not?” I asked.
“Then you say it again tomorrow. Because it might be. You never know, right? At some point, tomorrow will be better.”

― Morgan Matson, Amy and Roger's Epic Detour

So,  this was my top ten list. What about you? Let me know.

Feature and Follow Friday # 7

Feature & Follow is a meme hosted by two hosts, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every week, 2 blogs will be featured allowing everyone to discover some new blogs!

Today's question:

If you could take the place of one author which author would it be and what changes would you make in his/her writing style? – Suggested by NJKinny’s World of Books & Stuff.
I don't think I wanna take place of any author. Because no matter how best the book is or if the book is crappy, I haven't put any effort into it. Not gone through what the writers go through for that particular book. Sure, if I have some problems with the book, I write it in my review but I never felt like changing someone's writing style.

What about you?
