TOP TEN TUESDAY #21 | TEN BOOKS I READ THIS YEAR THAT I AM THANKFUL FOR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic is Top Ten Books I am thankful for. But I am posting only about the books I read this year, because I have too many books on my list that I am thankful for.

1. SILVER SILENCE (PSY-CHANGELING TRINITY #1) BY NALINI SINGH:

This series is my favourite and its for a great reason, because not only the world created by Nalini Singh is fan-freaking-tastic and genius, the characters in each book, the story and the writing everything about this series is just amazing. So I have to be thankful for these books.

2. ADDICTED SERIES BY KRISTA AND BECCA RITCHIE:

I started reading this series this year, years after I added it to my tbr. I only regret joining this fandom so late. The characters and their stories have become like home to me. I can never get enough of this squad! I love each and every character from this series. Connor, Lo, Ryke, Rose, Lily, Daisy and even Willow and Garrison. I am on the last book of this series and I am sad to say goodbye to this series. Thank god for the spin-off series called, Like Us.

3. WHEN IT'S REAL BY ERIN WATT:

I hadn't read many YA books lately and whichever ones that I read, I didn't like them or find them as good as my old reads. So I was thankful for this book, as it got me back into liking YA books!

4. CHASING CHRISTMAS EVE (HEARTBREAKER BAY, #4) BY JILL SHALVIS:

I always love reading Christmas books, not only that but a good Contemporary book and Jill Shalvis NEVER fails to deliver that. I always enjoy her books, I am always rereading them, my mood just uplifts if its down after reading them. Lucky Harbor is my the favourite contemporary romance series by her but I see Heartbreaker Bay giving it a good competition!

5. DEVIL IN SPRING (THE RAVENELS, #3) BY LISA KLEYPAS:

I discovered Lisa Kleypas's historical books last year and I fell more for this genre. Her historical books are a must read. This book was filled with sweetness and my feminist little heart just loved it. Loved the heroine and the hero too. It was a lot of fun seeing all the old favourites from the Wallflowers series!

6. SHADOWDANCE (LONDON DANCE, #4) KRISTEN CALLIHAN:

I try to start and finish one series every year. This year it was two, this one and the Addicted series. I love paranormal romances and I love historical romances so when I discovered the combination of the two, I had to read this one. This series gets better and better with each book. I especially loved this book.

7. THE THING ABOUT LOVE BY JULIE JAMES:

I love watching FBI/law or crime shows like that but I had never read books about FBI or police until I picked up FBI/US Attorney series by this author way back in 2013 and I just loved them so much. I am always waiting for Julie James' books eagerly and when I do get to read them, I'm highly entertained and never disappointed. So I was very thankful to read this one this year!

8. AERIAL ETHEREAL SERIES BY KRISTA AND BECCA RITCHIE:

Double feature for these twin authors and a very notable one because this series just proves that you can fall in love with any book or character these people write about. I never thought that circus would be this cool or there could be so many untold stories of these characters. This series is very unique. It's set in Las Vegas too! I have never been to Las Vegas but whenever I think about this place I had particular scenes in my mind based on the tv shows/ movies but there's so much more to this city. I explored the city with Thora and can't wait to do more of that exploring!

9. CHERISH HARD (HARD PLAY, #1) BY NALINI SINGH:

Of course, Nalini Singh too gets a double feature, she's one of my TOP favourite authors you see. Besides that, this book is amazing and you can find my review here.

10. THE HATING GAME BY SALLY THORNE:

Last but not the least, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This was my first read by this author. I loved reading this book, I love contemporary books and this one is among the best ones! Great characters and sweet story. I can't wait to read more books by her!

So there you go. These are my top ten. What are yours?

My Rating - 5 stars!

My Review:

It's not a surprise now when I say that Nalini Singh is my top favourite author because I say it every chance I get. I had been waiting on the edge of my seat for this book/series as soon as I read about Bishop's siblings in Rock Hard(you can find my review of Rock Hard here). Sailor and Isa are introduced in Rock Hard and I instantly wanted to read their story, so I was very grateful to hear that Nalini Singh announced that there were going to be more books for the siblings as well!

Isa is an heiress to her mother's company. But she doesn' want to be the CEO of the company, all she wants is to do settle down and live a simple life. I loved Isa's character because she was so strong and in spite of being an heiress and rich, she had a heart of an angel. Her character was very relatable. She loves her stepbrother and half-sister deeply. No parents issues involved in her love and dedication to them.

Sailor wants to turn his landscape services into a proper business and he is ready to work hard for it. He never wants money to be a problem because he was scared in his childhood by his father because of the money. I loved his character because he is so mature and understanding despite being young. He lives a simple life. He loves his family and loves his work.

Isa and Sailor meet or just pass each other when Isa is at her bottom and that flash of the moment meeting becomes an unforgettable one for Sailor. Years later they see each other again and this time Sailor is not letting her go. Both Isa and Sailor are so dedicated to their families and dedicated to each other. Sailor was the best, he was so good with Isa's sister and his own siblings. He is completely and irrevocably in for Isa. He is ready to do anything for her and Isa for him. Despite the age difference, both characters were very mature and understanding. It was amazing to see them fall in love. The storyline, the writing and the characters everything was perfect.

I always love it when guys grovel after making a mistake and I am always complaining when they don't grovel enough BUT I discovered that I love it when there is no such situation only to begin with. The guy doesn't have to grovel if he doesn't make any mistake, Sailor realises where he's headed with his desire to work nonstop and just handles a certain situation so well, the U-turn away from the cliche and all the drama was the best scene ever! Communication is the key people! Gabe won my heart in the first chapter itself and so did Sailor! These brothers know the way to a girl's heart!

I loved reading about Isa and Sailor's families. Meeting all the family members was fun, I want some more of those Bishop camping scenes. I just feel like visiting New Zealand and seeing all the places mentioned in the book myself for real. I can't wait for the next books in this series and I already have some tentative pair in my mind too! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this sweet romance. This book can be read as a standalone.

*Thanks to the author for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.*

~ EXCERPT ~

ÍSA WONDERED WHAT THE HELL she was doing.
Being a devil woman, she reminded herself. Having fun for a change. Not being a grandma at twenty-eight years of age.
Still, she couldn’t stop second-guessing herself as Sailor led her out of the house through a side entrance that opened out into a small, manicured garden. “I’ll have to take off my heels,” she whispered when she saw the pebbled path snaking through the garden.
“Want a piggyback ride?” A playful grin. “I promise not to molest your thighs.”
Goose bumps broke out over Ísa’s skin, her nipples tight. Reckless as she was feeling tonight, she might just have taken him up on his offer if she hadn’t been worried her damn dress would split in two. “Maybe when we’re naked,” she said instead, Devil Ísa in full flower.
Groaning, he doubled over as if she’d punched him.
Her lips twitching despite the melting sexual heat liquefying her bones, she leaned down to slip off her heels.
Sailor waited, his hand firm around hers, until she was done. Taking the heels from her, he carried them in his other hand as Ísa padded beside him on the grass that lay on this side of the pebbled path. The path ended at a weathered wooden gate, which, when opened, put them at the top of a narrow walkway that led down onto a beach Ísa couldn’t yet see but could hear.
Her heart crashed in time with the waves as they made their way down to the beach while the mansion behind them pulsed with light and music. But she didn’t turn and run away, she didn’t stop and talk herself out of it, she didn’t attempt to be a sensible adult. She followed a gorgeous, blue-eyed man down a dirt pathway to an effectively private beach.
The sand that had been tracked onto the path was gritty under her feet, the air coming off the sea cool but not cold.
“The water’s going to be icy, isn’t it?” she whispered to his broad back.
“Don’t worry, spitfire. I’ll keep you warm,” was the deep-voiced response. “Stop here.” Jumping down to the beach, he reached up to grab her by the waist, swinging her down as if she were a featherweight.
Something fluffy and mushy came to life inside Ísa. “Here?”
Shaking his head, he said, “Raj told me there’s like a little cove area—not a proper cove, but caused by— There.”
Ísa saw it at once. A huge tree had fallen into the water at some point and smashed up against some rocks where it appeared to be stuck. Between the jutting rocks on either side and the fallen trunk was a naturally created pool. The water within it was pretty calm, and it looked as if they could get to it by clambering over some rocks that didn’t appear too sharp or slippery.
Of course, she’d be walking over those rocks naked.
Ísa looked up at the moon. Imagined it shining on the stark white of her body. Gulped. “Will you close your eyes while I go in the water?” Even Devil Ísa wasn’t up for blinding him with her glow-in-the-dark form.
A glance back. “What’re you going to bribe me with?”
Ísa scowled. “Not pushing you into the water right now.” It was a toothless threat given his muscles and her lack of them.
Rubbing his jaw, he said, “Three tongue kisses. That’s my price, and I’m not budging.”
Ísa wanted to pounce on him all over again. “Two,” she countered.
“Nuh-uh. Three. Or I’m keeping both eyes wide open.” Leaning in, he pressed his nose to hers. “I really want to keep my eyes wide open.”
And Ísa really wanted to kiss him and run her hands all over that sculpted chest. “Three,” she whispered.

TOP TEN TUESDAY #20 | TEN BOOKS I WANT YOUNG PEOPLE TO READ

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

I wanted to talk about my all-time YA books for quite a while now so this couldn't have been a more perfect opportunity to talk about it. So here are my top ten YA favourites of all time that I want younger people(meaning above 13 years) to read.

*YA series*

1.Perfect Chemistry trilogy by Simone Elkeles:

I LOVE this trilogy and it's a great YA read. Fuentes brothers take you on a great adventure!

2. Pushing the Limits series by Katie McGarry

This series is my top YA contemporary favourite. I can't get enough of these books.

I really cannot say it enough about how much I love this book. This is my top favourite standalone.

4. Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer:

I don't usually like Sci-Fi books but this series is so worth it!

5. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling:

My list won't be complete if I don't mention this legendary series.

6. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis:

I haven't read all the books in this series but I haven't read all of HP books too, I know need to go hide under a rock. But I really loved it when I read the first two books of this when I was young and think younger or people of any age would definitely enjoy these books.

7. Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout:

This was my first alien read. I loved reading this series and are part of my life now. Totally recommend this if you love alien books or if you haven't read any then this is a good series to start!

8. His Fair Assassins by Robin LaFevers:

For younger people who are just beginning to read historicals or people of any age who enjoy historicals, this is a series for you! Love how its female driven too! Go girl power!

9. Gravity Moon by Cath Crowley:

It was a great contemporary standalone read. I like to read books that take place in one day. Sometimes there are days when something significant happens and your whole life changes because of that one day.

10. IF I STAY BY GAYLE FORMAN:

I think these books are there in the school syllabus for reading too. But even if you don't I recommend these because the writing and the story of Where She Went, the way the main characters get back together is amazing!

So there you go. These are my top ten. What are yours?
