Review ~ To Have and to Hold (The Wedding Belles, #1) by Lauren Layne

Goodreads Summary:

USA TODAY bestselling author Lauren Layne is the “queen of witty dialogue and sexy scenes” (Rachel Van Dyken)! Now, Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles, her sizzling brand new contemporary romance series about three ambitious wedding planners who can make any bride’s dream come true... but their own.

Discovering her fiance is an international con man just moments before they exchange vows devastates celebrity wedding planner Brooke Baldwin's business—and breaks her heart. Now a pariah in Los Angeles, she seeks a fresh start in New York City and thinks she’s found it with her first bridal client, a sweet—if slightly spoiled—hotel heiress. Then she meets the uptight businessman who’s holding the purse strings.

Seth Tyler wishes he could write a blank check and be done with his sister Maya's fancy-pants wedding. Unfortunately, micromanaging the event is his only chance at proving Maya’s fiance is a liar. Standing directly in his way is the stunning blonde wedding planner whose practiced smiles and sassy comebacks both irritate and arouse him. He needs Brooke’s help. But can he persuade a wedding planner on a comeback mission to unplan a wedding? And more importantly, how will he convince her that the wedding she should be planning... is theirs?

My Review :

After reading so many books by Lauren Layne I have come to expect great contemporary romance stories. Because she writes them really well. While I enjoyed reading this book, I was a teeny bit disappointed with the main characters and the story. But overall it was a great read.
Fun Fact, when I saw that LL is coming up with a new series which has like with a wedding theme, I immediately remembered Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet series. But both of the series are different and both of them are good.

So the Wedding Belles is a company where they are hired to do wedding arrangements. And Brooke comes to work as a wedding planner for the Wedding Belles in New York from LA. She moves away from LA because months ago she discovers that her fiance is not who she thinks is. He turns out to be a con man and is arrested right before their vows are going to be exchanged. Yes, at the altar! What I liked about Brooke is even with her dreadful experience, she sees the good in people and she is that supportive friend.

Seth Tyler is the owner of Tyler Hotels, the biggest hotel chain in the country. He is a cynical person. And is hell bent on trying to control everything about everyone whom he loves because he thinks he is being helpful. So when his sister comes to him with the new of her getting married, his gut tells him that something is wrong with the guy and naturally he tries to control his sister's wedding. And then he meets Brooke, his sister's wedding planner. There is that undeniable attraction between the two.  What I liked about Seth was, in the end he goes all out, he knows what he wants and he does everything he can to achieve that.

Now both Seth and Brooke were a little hesitant to go into this because Seth is a jerk and Brooke can't go out with him because its unprofessional for her. Brooke is a believer of happily ever afters and Seth is not. But both of them were being obtuse when it came to regard each other's feelings and they were really nice to each other. That frustrated me. Also I kinda found it a little too coincidental that the situation is same with Seth's sister as it was with Brooke's fiance. But it all connected in the end. Both of the main characters had some personal issues and they were able to deal with them in the end. They did have a good chemistry and I liked their story but I didn't love it.

I did love meeting the other two Belles. And I read Heather's book and LOVED. Review of it is soon to come. I also can't wait to read Alexis's book!
