Review ~ Sweet Little Lies (Heartbreaker Bay, #1) by Jill Shalvis

Goodreads Summary:

Sweet Little Lies is the first in New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis's Heartbreaker Bay series, featuring her trademark gift for humour, warmth and romance. Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts and Marie Force.

Choose the one guy you can't have... As captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas - the hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her neighbors; problem is, she's in danger of stumbling into love with Mr. Right for Anybody But Her.

Fall for him - hard... Pub owner Finn O'Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze. But when a freak accident involving darts (don't ask) leads to shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast.

And then tell him the truth. Pru only wants Finn to be happy; it's what she wishes for at the historic fountain that's supposed to grant her heart's desire. But wanting him for herself is a different story-because Pru's been keeping a secret that could change everything...

My Rating - 5 stars!

My Review :

Jill Shalvis is my auto-buy author, I turn to her books whenever I am in need to fix my day and of a sweet, fun read with adorable characters in these wonderful settings like Lucky Harbor. So I was anticipating for some good story and boy did she deliver

Sweet Little Lies is the first book in Heartbreaker Bay series, and in this we get introduced to a group of friends and they are all amazing. I just love getting into the world JS creates. This story is with a really sweet heroine and a very alpha man hero.

Pru was a really great heroine, I just loved her. She is a captain of San Francisco Bay tour boat, and she is hell bent on helping those who got affected in the aftermath of an accident, which was happened due to her father driving under the influence and she blames herself for the accident. She goes over and above helping everyone. But for some reason, she can't seem to help Finn emotionally.

Finn is this silent, alpha male hero. He and his brother, Sean own a pub called O'Rileys, an Irish Bar. The bar is where Pru lives and Finn has this group of friends who live in the same building. This gives us a small town-ish feel in the big city. So I just loved this setting. Anyway, Finn is a troubled man because his past with his father wasn't nice at all.
Pru has some secrets and she isn't willing to share them with anybody, much less with Finn. But when they are together their chemistry is off the charts and that is why, the struggle to keep some distance from each other is real.

It was a very sweet read. There was some misplaced guilt on Pru's side which she overcomes towards the end and I loved reading Finn and Pru's story and seeing them develop through out the book and I also loved getting to know this group of friends. I can't wait for their books! Especially Archer and Elle's.
For a fun and sweet read, this book is a must read.

Some of my favourite quotes :
*
Just a single one of her smiles could make his whole day. The sound of her laugh did the same. And then there was the feel of her beneath him, her body locked around his when he was buried so deep that he couldn’t imagine being intimate with anyone else ever again . . .
*
“Life doesn’t follow rules or expectations. It’s messy and unpredictable. And it turns out love is a lot like life—it doesn’t follow rules or expectations either.”
*
“It’s you, Pru. And I want you back. I want to be with you. I want you to be mine, because I’m absolutely yours. Have been since you first walked into my life and became my fun whisperer. And you can’t tell me it’s too soon for a relationship because we’ve been in one since the moment we met. We’re together, we’re supposed to be together. Like peanut butter and jelly. Like French fries and ketchup. Like peaches and cream.”

"You don't even know what I'm going to say."
"You're going to say I'm being a stupid guy," Finn said. "But newsflash, I am a guy and sometimes we're stupid. Deal with it."
