Goodreads Summary:
In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.
And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.
Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.
If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.
My Review:
I am A HUGE Nalini Singh fan. I love her paranormal books and now after reading this series Rock Kiss, I love contemporary books as well.
Charlotte is our heroine, she is the mouse but really a strong woman hidden underneath as described in the book. She is extremely good at her job. But is burned with a horrible past.
Gabriel aka Gabe aka T-Rex is a former rugby player turned successful business man. Now a CEO at a company where Charlotte works. He has a huge lovable family with an absentee biological father.
Their first meeting was hilarious as we get to know about it in the first book, Rock Addiction. Working for Gabe, Charlotte gets her witty, strong personality out cause Gabe is always crowding her and makes her mad by giving too much of work that she throws a muffin at his head.
Gabe was surprisingly very gentle with Charlotte. Inspite of being a alpha man, he is patient with Charlotte and sweet by giving her sweet treats after making her mad. Always thinking about her and how she would be comfortable. He is one of my favourite heroes of all time. All in all I loved how Gabe was with Charlotte. Once Charlotte comes out of her shell, you get to see her witty and strong side more. I liked how Charlotte helped Gabe get over his anger on his biological father.
I LOVED Gabe's family. I wish Nalini Singh would write about his brother. That would be super! I also liked the titles. It described the chapter properly. I kind of enjoyed this book more than Rock Addiction. No, don't tell this to Molly and Fox cause they are my favourites! ;)
Some of my favourite quotes from the book:
* “Dear Ms. Baird, As of today, you do have a slave clause in your contract. It means you do everything I say. Under no circumstances are you to eat, sleep, take breaks, or check in to hotel rooms with men named Eggplant. Sincerely, Gabriel”
* “I love you.” Steel-gray eyes held her own. “You’re my heart.”
* “Bad Things Happen… But Then Good Things Happen”
* “He would always hold her safe”
* “When did you get so bossy, Ms. Baird?” “Self-defense against a certain T-Rex.”
* You have a huge heart, Gabriel—find room in it to be kind.”
* 1. You (Gabriel) are to always wear your wedding ring so no women ever hit on you.
2. If any woman hits on you regardless, you are to tell your wife so she can kick that woman’s ass.
3. You have to walk around shirtless at home so your wife can ogle you to her heart’s content.
4. Under no circumstances are you to ever send your wife red roses. Do it and she will throw far
worse than a muffin at your head.
5. You will not work after seven at night unless it is an emergency situation requiring immediate
remediation. Late-night international calls can be negotiated on a per-call basis.
“Done and done. You’re mine now, Ms. Baird. And I’m yours. Always.”
