FRIDAY READS #5 ~ SILVER SILENCE (PSY-CHANGELING TRINITY, #1)

Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share the first sentence (or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.
This week’s book:

32573185Goodreads Summary:

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to her extraordinary Psy-Changeling world with a story of wild passion and darkest betrayal...

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that's exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence--her mind clear of all emotion--Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That's what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious...and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed.

BOOK BEGINNINGS:

Age of Trinity

OCTOBER 2082 IS a new beginning. Psy, human, and changeling, all three races have agreed to work together to unite their divided world. The Trinity Accord is the fragile foundation of all their hopes and dreams of a future without war, without violence, without shattering loss. It is a noble ambition.

FRIDAY 56:

“Do you like being noisy now?” Sveta asked after a long pause.

Noisy?”
“’Cause you were Silent before?”
“Oh, I see.” Silver took time to consider the question. “Emotion—being noisy—is new to me. But . . . yes, I think I like being noisy. The world is a much more eclectically beautiful place with emotion in it, despite the clear disadvantage of losing the power of pure rationality.”
“You talk funny,” Arkasha volunteered. “I like you though.”

  7. Hi Priyanka,

This one is definitely way out of my usual reading genres and my comfort zone, although I can still appreciate a writing style I might enjoy, especially your 'Friday 56' lines.

I also much prefer the cover art of the version you shared, over some of the others out there.

    'Happy Reading' :)
