BOOK REVIEW | SUNRISE ON HALF MOON BAY BY ROBYN CARR

Goodreads Summary:

Sometimes the happiness we’re looking for has been there all along…

Adele and Justine have never been close. Born twenty years apart, Justine was already an adult when Addie was born. The sisters love each other but they don’t really know each other.

When Addie dropped out of university to care for their ailing parents, Justine, a successful lawyer, covered the expenses. It was the best arrangement at the time but now that their parents are gone, the future has changed dramatically for both women.

Addie had great plans for her life but has been worn down by the pressures of being a caregiver and doesn’t know how to live for herself. And Justine’s success has come at a price. Her marriage is falling apart despite her best efforts.

Neither woman knows how to start life over but both realize they can and must support each other the way only sisters can. Together they find the strength to accept their failures and overcome their challenges. Happiness is within reach, if only they have the courage to fight for it.

Set in the stunning coastal town of Half Moon Bay, #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr’s new novel examines the joys of sisterhood and the importance of embracing change.

My Review:

Sunrise on Half Moon Bay is the latest book by Robyn Carr. Having enjoyed her Sullivan's Crossing, I was really looking forward to this book when I received it for review and it didn't disappoint me.

This book follows the two sisters, Adele and Justine, and their journey after the universe throws curveballs at them. The book has both Adele and Justine's point of views. Both sisters aren't so close being twenty years apart.

Adele has been taking care of her parents when they fell sick and she came back home to kind of hideaway from the world for her reasons. She got too used to her lifestyle only relying on Jake for a friend. But once she had no one to take care of, she had to move on with her life finally and this book describes her journey of the changes she brings to her life.

Justine feels burnt out at her workplace but is continuing to work for the fat paychecks for her stay-at-home dad and her teenage children. And then the truth she wanted to deny comes in front when Adele witnesses her husband, Scott cheating on Justine. Justine with a strong mind, keeping her emotions intact approaches this situation, she handles this very well despite being heartbroken and shaken from the betrayal of her trust by Scott.

This book showcases Adele and Justine's journey to make their lives better and their efforts to live a happy life. Both women are so different, hence, each woman has a different approach and yet they grow close. There's a silver lining after all since Justine seems happier and Adele finally starts to live her life. Justine's daughters were really understanding, Logan was a great character as well. I really enjoyed the first 50-60% of the book but later I was slightly disappointed in Adele for being a bit of a dilly dally about Jake.

It was a great book overall. It was nice to read about the duo's journey towards happiness after all the darkness they had.
