BOOK BEGINNINGS:

This can’t be real . . . This can’t be real . . . This can’t be real . . . The words cycle round and round in my mind like the wheels on my speeding ’Cuda as its ass-end slips and slides over the gravel and ice. This car is hard to handle on the best of days, built front-heavy and overloaded with horsepower. I’m going to put myself into one of these damn trees if I don’t slow down.

FRIDAY 56:

Aside from a quick glance my way, Jesse seems into their conversation. I try not to watch, but it’s impossible. That is, until his friend comes back from grabbing drinks at the bar and catches my eye. He stares at me until I duck my face into my beer, feeling my cheeks burn.

MY THOUGHTS:

I just started reading it now and just finished the first chapter. As it is highly recommended my best bookish friend, I'm super excited to read this series.

I'm waiting because...

I hadn't read any book by this author before reading the first book in the series and I was very doubtful of it by reading the synopsis. My friend seemed to LOVE it and I went for it and boy was it a sweet sweet surprise?! I LOVED the first book! It was one of my top favourite reads this year so I can't wait for Miller's book because he so deserves one hell of a story and so does Kinsey!

1.Perfect Chemistry trilogy by Simone Elkeles:

I LOVE this trilogy and it's a great YA read. Fuentes brothers take you on a great adventure!
                       

2. Pushing the Limits series by Katie McGarry:  

This series is my top YA favourite. I can't get enough of these books byKatie McGarry, an amazing writer.

3. Anna and the French Kiss trilogy by Stephanie Perkins:

This is a cute series, I have yet to read Isla's book but Ioved the first two books. Its a cute summer read.

4. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson:

I read this book quite some time ago but it still remains my favourite. I want to read more books by this author, especially Since You've Been Gone, that looks like another amazing summer read. 

5. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick:

I read this book in 2012, it was a cute read. I have to read the next book which was recently released called The Boy Most Likely To.

6. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay:

I really cannot say it enough about how much I love this book. This is my top favourite standalone.

7. Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines:

This is a perfect beach read series. It starts out with a YA book called Breathe then its NA and some NA/Adult books later on in the series. 

8. My Favourite Mistake by Chelsea Cameron:

This was one of my first NA reads and I started reading more from this genre after reading this book. Great story and gloved the characters. 

9. Easy by Tammara Webber:

I love this book so much, I have reread it a lot of times. Absolutely love the characters and the story. It's a top NA recommendation from me!

10. Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker:

I really love this author's writing. I love this series, you can check out my reviews of this series too and I have waited for Stella and Ryan's book since the first book so really really excited for this most anticipated book in the series' release.

I like the first book in this series enough to go to the second book also I liked Brady more than the hero in the first book and it sounded interesting when we get a tease of Willa in it. Also the synopsis is sounding good.

Review ~ All Broke Down (Rusk University, #2) by Cora Carmack

My Review :

Cora Carmack is one of my favourite NA authors. I loved reading the first book, All Lined Up. It was perfect and not a typical NA book. And though I expected a little more from this book, I enjoyed reading Silas and Dylan's story.

Silas Moore, we meet him in the first book as a fellow football player and he is kind of like an antagonist in the first part of the first book, he kind of becomes little nicer in the last part. And in this book you really come to know about him. He is poor and not that smart but one thing he is really good at is football. 

Dylan fights for lost causes like for environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians and fighting for one of these causes she finds herself in jail and meets this dangerous and beautiful stranger, Silas. 

Silas cannot afford jail time and losing his spot in the football team and the fight against one team member lands him there. Dylan is this do-gooder and Silas is this bad boy. Both from different worlds and yet finds themselves attracted to each other.

Both Silas and Dylan has issues. She deals with it by wanting to fix everything hence a fixer in Silas's eyes. And Silas deals with it by being angry all the time. Even though the attraction between the two is clear as day it takes time to build the relationship between them. 

Even though Carson and Dallas remain my favourite couple I liked Silas and Dylan too. I like how Carson and Silas also become more better friends in this book. As it is Cora Carmack's book, there was humor in the book and I totally loved it. The banter between the boys and Carson/Dallas parts were good to read. It was good read put together.

 Some of my favourite quotes:

“Dudes who look dangerous should just be dangerous. Period. The end. They should not be dangerous and beautiful all at the same time. It leaves the universe out of balance, and it makes me do stupid things like stare.”

“I will never be able to turn this girl down. Whatever she wants from me, it’s hers. No matter what she asks for, I’ll find a way to give it to her. She may not be mine, but somewhere along the way, I ended up hers.” 

“I know now why caring about another person is so damn scary. It’s not that they won’t care about you back, because that either happens or it doesn’t. You live with it or you do everything you can to change it. The really scary thing is the moment you realize that for the rest of your life, you’ll feel twice the pain, twice the joy, twice the fear.

Twice as helpless to control it all, too.” 

“Why isn’t there a reality TV show filled with hot guys doing sweaty, mouthwatering tasks?

Oh, right. That’s called sports” 

“You're really hitting on me? After we just met in jail?"

"Is it working?"

Review ~ All Lined Up (Rusk University, #1) by Cora Carmack

My Review :

I have been a fan of Cora Carmack's writing since I read Losing it and books followed by it. Ergo, I was very excited to read her new series and boy did I love this book. I think this is the best book of hers till now. 

Dallas is studying in Rusk University where her father coaches and hence she can't fully have a college experience. As the other kids are either too scared to approach her or are just behind to get in good grace of her father. Also with her ex being in the team. At one point she used to enjoy Football but she comes to hate it because of all this. There is lot unsaid between Dallas and her father and I love that how towards the end of the book they seem to come closer and resolve some issues between them.

Carson is the most sweetest hero I read about in NewAdult genre and he stole the spotlight from the moment he came into the picture. He is one of my favourite heroes. He is hard working who loves football. He came from a poor family and didn't take anything for granted for the love of football. 

Their meeting is oh so cute! Dallas is frustrated with her ex and his friends and tries to escape from the party and finds herself talking to this stranger Carson and finds herself attracted towards him. I like their first meeting. They hit it off so quickly. 

 “Why would you want to hang out with me? I’m likely to be a roaring bitch for the rest of the

night.”

So honest. And gorgeous. It’s a rare combination. I have to remind myself again that I don’t have

the time to really appreciate this particular rarity.

“What can I say? I have a thing for screamers.”

But later, Dallas finds out that he is a football player and Carson finds it hard to digest the fact that Dallas is in fact his Coach's daughter. 

In spite of all that they can't resist and from there their story begins. I loved both Carson and Dallas. They were perfect for each other. 

There is lot unsaid between Dallas and her father and I love that how towards the end of the book they seem to come closer and resolve some issues between them.

It was a good story with great dialogue, humour, friends and drama. I liked the dedication as well! And how the book had some of the author's personal experiences. It is a great read if you're looking for a fresh NewAdult book involving sports.

“Because sometimes in life, you just have to stand there and do nothing. Overwhelmed by all the versions of ourselves that exsist in our minds - who we want to be, who we should be, who we're not, and who who we are - it's a jungle that can ensnare your feet and confuse your eyes. But sometimes if you stand still, all those things will snap back into place like a rubber band. And if you can get past the sting, you can keep moving, not quite whole, but held together for the moment.” 

“I've spent too much time pretending, too much time on the outside, too much time feeling spineless. This time... I'm going after what I want.”

“I swallow and stare and swallow again, because dear, sweet Jesus riding a unicorn, he's perfect.” 

“I don't know that dancing fixes anything. I don't feel magically happy because of it. My problems don't disappear when the music ends. But I understand life better when I dance, and understanding is half the fight of surviving.” 

 “I’m not one for speeches.”

A few feet behind me Torres calls out, “Riiiiight.”

The crowd laughs and Coach whirls around like he’s searching for the culprit. Torres is the picture of innocence, and I sigh and shake my head when he grins at me.

“Fine. I’m not one for speeches that don’t involve yelling."

“Carson McClain, you scare me like nothing has ever scared me before. You drive me crazy and make me laugh and push my buttons on purpose. You make me feel safe and smart and pretty. Sometimes I think I might actually melt when you wrap your arms around me, and right now I feel a little bit like I might die if you don't kiss me.” 

My Rating - 5 stars!

Review ~ The Mistake (Off-Campus, #2) by Elle Kennedy

My Review :

I read and loved the first book in this series, The Deal and the way it ended on John Logan having some feelings for Hannah, I was very worried but at the same time excited for this book thinking how the author will now write Logan's story. And whereas, the book didn't leave me disappointed, but just a little unsatisfied.

John Logan is Garrett's best friend and a fellow hockey player. He sleeps around and lives like there is no tomorrow to get over his issues. He then stumbles upon Grace in his quest of trying to avoid Hannah by banging on her door instead of someone else's. Now their meeting was a cliché but it was cute nonetheless.

Grace was a shy girl who rambles when nervous. And I liked how they became instant friends and the chemistry between them was super. Until Logan messes up that is. And I liked how Grace made him work for it when Logan realizes his mistake and wants to get back with her. She was strong then also when her best friend backstabs her.

I liked how it clears up for Logan that he doesn't have feelings for Hannah but of her relationship with Garrett. And Logan quickly realizes his mistake and pursues Grace. He has some issues because of his father being alcoholic and no sight of any ray of hope for his future. 

By the end of the book both Grace and Logan quit making immature mistakes and decisions and they're happy together. I loved to see Garrett and Hannah together with the other gang and the dialogues between them were hilarious. Garrett is still my favourite but I enjoyed reading Logan's story as well.

 Some of my favourite quotes:

“I nod in approval. “Damn. I should go into modeling.” “You photograph really well,” Garrett agrees in a serious voice. “And dude, your package looks huge.” Fuck, it totally does.” 

“Lorris ? As in Logan and Morris ? They fucking Brangelina’d themselves?” 

“And just in case my reaction to your idiocy didn’t make it clear where I stand with us, then let me spell it out for you.” I whirl around to scowl at him. “I love you, you stupid jackass.” 

“To be honest, it’s probably better if I don’t talk. Cute guys make me nervous. Like tongued-tied total-brain-malfunction nervous. All my filters shut off and suddenly I’m telling them about the time I peed my pants in the third grade during a field trip to the maple syrup factory, or how I’m scared of puppets and have mild OCD that could possibly drive me to tidy up your room the moment you turn your head.”

My Rating - 4 stars!

Review ~ Fall with Me (Wait for You, #4) by J. Lynn

Goodreads Summary: 

Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.

But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

My Review:

We meet Roxy and Reece in the previous book. Roxy works in Jax's bar and Reece is his best friend. I was excited to read more about them when they were  introduced, to know what was their past that they used to glare at each other so much.

The story starts out great. I like Roxy and her shirts with weird sayings on it. And then you meet Reece and I loved him through out the book. He supported her with everything and was understanding but Roxy just disappointed me.  She behaves kind of weird not just with Reece but also when she's being stalked, she suspects its Casper, the friendly ghost. Now who thinks like that in real life?

I also felt unsatisfied with how Reece and Roxy just start dating without any explanation as to why now after 11 months of fighting like cats and dogs with each other. 

But apart from these things, it was a good read. We get to meet old characters and catch up with them.

I like this author's writing and with this series some books are a total hit and some are miss for me unfortunately. This one was in the middle somewhere. I liked majority of the book but in between only I felt like how can anyone be this stupid. That said, I loved it when the characters weren't being stupid.

Review: The Deal(Off-Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy

My Review:

This is my first book by Elle Kennedy to read. And after reading this book, lets just say that I am gonna be looking forward to read more books in the future by Elle Kennedy.

So it is a dual pov book, starting with Hannah, our heroine's pov. It is about how she gets an A in a subject with a bitchy teacher and whole class performing poorly. She is a studious, majoring in drama girl. And here Garrett has failed in the test. Now he loves to play Hockey and with his result, he won't be able to play that anymore as he requires certain amount of grades to keep playing.

Fortunately there is a makeup test being held but Garrett needs someone to tutor him and he finds that Hannah gets an A. He tries pursue her to get to teach him but she doesn't. Finally they settle on making a deal with each other and Garrett's end deal is to fake date Hannah to get a guy she crushes on to notice her. I loved how he tries to persuade her and all.

Hannah tutors him and realizes that he is not a jerk or cocky but is very sweet after all. Hannah has a bad past which is why she can't make herself go to her hometown. But inspite of all that Hannah was a very positive person, sweet yet ballsy. Garrett can't help but be attracted to her. Garrett also has a bad past and can't go to his house too. Garrett was so nice to her. He was a perfect at boyfriend to her. Takes care of her and helps her recover from the bad stuff. Acts her bodyguard when needed and all that.

They slowly fall in love and then there is one tiny dramatic twist. I really liked how Garrett handled it. They are perfect for each other. I loved all Garrett's and Hannah's friends. I hope all of them gets a book.

Me: WHAT?? I’m going to kiss u!

It takes me a second to realize what happened, at which point I’m completely mortified.

Him: Surrrrrre. Let’s blame it on autocorrect.

Me: Shut it.

Him: I think someone wants to kiss me…”

A lump the size of Massachusetts lodges in my throat. I swallow hard and try to speak past it.

“Never.”

My heart squeezes with emotion, but I try to hide the response by donning a casual tone. “You want me to sing you a lullaby? Aren’t you precious.”

He chuckles. “My chest feels likes it got hit by a truck. I need a distraction.”

Review: Confess by Colleen Hoover

My Review:

I love Colleen Hoover's writing, her Slammed and Hopeless series are my favourite books of all time. But I haven't been reading anything by her for some time now cause the plot was not really my thing. I can't read love-triangles.

That is why when I read this book's synopsis I was on board immediately to read it. And it was a sweet read with some amazing paintings and quotes. But I had some issues with it.

Now it starts off with a prologue and it was so sweet, it was kind of like a one page story for me cause I connected more with those characters than the latter ones. Though Adam's family was quite a handful.

I liked the starting of the story where Auburn and Owen meet. Both of them were charming. Owen has this very cool gallery of paintings, where he paints the emotions of the confessions he gets from the people. I like the idea of confessions turning into paintings even though it might be disturbing after sometime painting the confessions. Also whatever connection I felt between them was only at that time.  

Then as you go more into the story, they just sorta get together and stuff which was too fast for me. I didn't really get their this strong connection. Then Auburn turns into this easily giving in kind of girl. Now I understand she had her reasons but when someone is going to almost take advantage of you, you gotta speak up! Thank god for her roommate! Who I really liked, but didn't get much to read about. Same thing happened with her kid, AJ. I wanted to know more of him and his relationship with Auburn. 

Owen also turns from charming to irritating character. He could have easily told her all the secrets before only. There was no harm in it! In fact his secrecy creates more sufferings. I wanted him to tell her the last secret also. It wouldn't have broken them so why start a relationship with a secret? 

And the villains should have been punished more that they did. What they did to Auburn was really unfair. The end was sweet, dramatic yes, but still satisfying. Would have loved some epilogue.
